Ok so here's my problem. I've lost about 13lb and decided i could do with some new jeans only when trying them on, if they fit over my thighs, they are to big on my hips/waist. Is there anything i can do to try and get rid of a few inches off my thighs.

Well done ;-D
I struggle the same way i tend to lose off everywhere but always slowly off my thighs and find that even though i can fit into a size 10 and need a belt they are so tight on my thighs so i end up wearing a 12 sometimes for comfort of reall y shop around to find a store that has a better leg fit. Generally boyfit or bootcut but if i try skinny fit its just ridiculous.
Squats lunges and seem to running help0 -
The shape I am, I've always preferred boycut or baggy jeans because even at the last time I considered my weight ~okay my legs were always a limiter. I've lost 10kg now and it's my legs holding back from me buying any new clothes. XD Congrats on the weight loss, though! It'll come off the thighs eventually. I know people say you can't target where you lose weight from but maybe something like cycling/stationary cycling will help, 'cause it's my legs that take the strain when I do that.0

I have this same problem no matter how much weight I lose. I just have big legs. If they fit in the legs and butt, the waist is way too big. I have found 1 pair of jeans that work for me. Levi's 505.0

You basically just need to continue to lose body fat as you have been doing and it will come off eventually. You are more than likely predisposed to carry more weight there (as am I) and it will probably be the last place your fat will move from (annoying but pretty typical).
To be honest, if you are anything like me, you will always have problems getting pants to fit properly (the only ones that I could get at one point were ones I found during a trip to Brazil - I ended up bringing a suitcase full back). I ended up having most of my pants taken in at the waist. There are some good jeans however for a curvier fit nowadays - I find Macy's Inc line good as they specifically have a straight and a curvy fit. Lower rise is also good as the fact that they end on the hips means that they do not have to go in as much. Also, look into relaxed fit rather than straight fit jeans.
Edited to fix typo.0 -
Same. My thighs are huge as is my bottom and hips but my waist is just normal sized. So I have to wear low rise jeans.0

this may be your body shape - genetecis play a large part in determing where fat goes from (as i am sure you are aware)
also hormones - Xs estrogen leads to saddlebags and thighs so go for cruciferousvegetabes, tumeric, flax, darc chocolate etc if you think you get xenoestrogens from your diet - there is alot of hokey about this on the internet but also som good scientific papers(studies)
if you are a hippy girl like me ( 28" wais 44" hips) then invest in a sewing machine: clothes 'aint ever going to fit right
it was a great day when i discovered i could take in the waists of my skirts and trousers so they sat straight across my hips!
however you can of course tone
try travelling squats with a resistance band or even just walking with a resistance band ( walk forwards 20 steps keeping band stretched at all times, then backwards, then to each side
sumo or plie squats,
mountain climbers.
good luck
and i hope i have not just been preaching to the choir!)

For me, running has done the trick. In fact, after a few months of 15-20 miles each week, my upper body needs to catch up with my legs!0

Same problem here. I found that jeans from the Gap and Banana Republic fit me better than jeans from Aeropostale or American Eagle. AE I definitely need a 12. Banana Republic I definitely wear a 10 and getting close to an 8. Curse our Pear or Hour Glass shapes! LOL I actually hated it at first, but now I embrace it and just try to find stores that carry jeans that fit me well. Take a day at the mall to shop around and try on MILLIONS of jeans so you can find the right fit for you.0

There's no real way to lose weight from any particular area. Your body gives up fat where it wants to give up fat from. The poster who said that your thighs might be the last place you lose from is probably right. I'm having the same issue at the moment. 14 jeans are quite big around my hips. 12 jeans won't slide up my thighs. By the time I fit the size 12s up my thighs I'm sure they'll be huge on my hips too. Something with a bit of a stretch in the material might work, so that it's small enough to be comfortable around waist/hips and strech a smidge for the thighs. Tailoring and a belt are other recommendations. If you plan on losing more I'd go with an inexpensive pair and a belt. No point scouring every brand in the mall if it won't fit in a month or two.0

I usually have decent luck with Old Navy "Flirt" style jeans. Still a bit big right at the back, but great through belly, bum, hips, and thighs.0
