People in Colorado have their work cut out for them to beat or even meet the BMI%0

I'm Montana ! I'm Montana !
:happy:0 -
What calculation are you all doing? Those numbers aren't the average BMI of the state, they are the percentage of the state's residents whose BMIs are in the obese ranges.2

Thanks for clarifying. I thought the % sign was strange but still rushed to compare my BMI (24.6) with the list.0 -

Whew! I had a hard time believing the average BMI of Colorado was 20%!2 -
I found this one that shows the BMI rather than percentages. http://www.insureme.com/insurance/bmi-index-state
I beat all of them. Every state except Utah is in the overweight range.0 -

From ElizabethRoad's link:The Deep South and Midwest took most of the top positions for body mass index. Note that the thinnest state in the union, Utah, with an average BMI of 24.68, is the only state the union that doesn't fall into the overweight category (though it's dangerously close).

According to this scale I'm Alabama. Thankfully BMI is a worthless measurement.0

Thanks, ElizabethRoad! Too bad the insurme site doesn't show what year…0

And the list is directly correlated to where food is actually good...0

I beat them all at 22.7. Whether it's the BMI or the % that are overweight, this is a very serious statement about the health of this country.0 -
This one is definitely BMI and not just percent obese— but global:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-187703280 -
BMI is a useless calculation. It is over 100 years old and just isn't a practical way of measuring. The best way is BF %'s
Given example of why it is useless. I was 200-205 in the Army with a BF of 15-17% If you use my height of 5'7" and calculate my BMI it would put me in the obesity range.
Just saying Please don't hurt me :bigsmile:3 -

SO true. I don't get this chart at all what are the percentages?? I'm lost on the "beat" them idea.0 -
Beat Florida's for sure.
And since I'm moving to Utah...I also barely beat theirs!
Yay me!0 -
Never mind, I can't read.0

Some lines have more than one state. There are 50 states and the District of Columbia, even though there are only 40 some lines.0

Both are 100% important; BMI even more so as it can more or less detect your chances of getting a fever i.e
Just saying Please don't hurt me

BBC: Where are you on the global fat scale?
Oh my God that site is so savage...Did you know?
If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would add 107,607,721 tonnes to the total weight of the world's population.
Calm down BBC! :P2 -
