Hi All!
Just wondering if any of you go through this and what you do about it? Right now I am completely full and I still have 300 calories to go just to get to my recommended daily calorie intake of 1200. I exercised today and earned 123 extra calories. If I were to submit my food diary for the day, I will recieve that starvation message...but I am too full to eat anything else for the night. How should I handle this?

Eat more calorically dense foods - peanut butter is great. Nuts. They are good fats and contain some protein and will beef up your calories quite quickly. Banana and PB is great or an apple and PB. One serving (2 TBSP) of PB has 200 cals in it - so it's actually QUITE easy to get that food in.0

I have this same problem some days. I have found that eating enough calories at all three meals and eating 1 or 2 small snacks (100 calorie pack of cocoa almonds maybe) is helpful. Waiting until the end to eat all your calories is impossible if you aren't hungry. Prelog you meals if you can and then you can plan a snack or 2. Hope this helps!0

Thanks! Pre-logging is a good idea. Today was a particulary hectic day so it was light eating through out the day and yes...i was trying to fit in the rest of my calories this evening. So....I will remember to take time to eat a suitable breakfast and lunch and snacks for now on...lol0

I too do a lot of prelogging and then add stuff to early meals so I don't end up with a lot of calories at the end of the day.0

Gosh, wish I had your problem and you had a different one - lol. I agree about eating more calories from foods like peanut butter, pasta with marania sauce, use some salad dressing. No problem for me at all to get enough calories in my day. GL0

I frequently end the day with a tablespoon or 2 of peanut butter!0

I feel the same was as Penelope and Chosengiver - what are you eating that is making you feel so full before getting all of your calories in?0

I just had some PB2 with a sliced banana. Great after workout treat.0

helloitsdan....It's actually 1220...of course when I exercise I gain the extra calories but MFP advises me to at least get in 1220.0

I find that I ofen don't get enough calcium in my diet, so when I need to add calories at the end of the night, I have a cup or two of 2% milk (130 cals/cup).0

Hmm. Did you just start eating a lot of fibrous foods? Because that over full feeling may pass soon, if that's the case.0

Yournotmine....I have been eating a lot of salads with lunch and dinner...I also have a lot of protein....i'm finding that I am always going over my protein intake trying not to eat too many carbs..lol...and the protein is filling for me....0

the default on MFP for protein is VERY low...most people need to be eating 120 g or more a day.0

That makes sense then, I have done low carb in the past and it is supposed to make you feel satisfied after a week or so of doing it - then adding more and more veggies, espec. the "whole" foods (not processed and fresh) would be more fiber and bulky feeling.0 -
I have this problem all the time. I am doing kickboxing 3 x a week and have a 2 year old that I chase around all day. I try and eat a variety of healthy options, lean meats (chicken, shrimp, 93% lean beef, pork loin) and organic peanut butter, fresh fruits and veggies. Water, Water, Water and diet green teas. I have even added Weight Watchers Ice cream bars into my nightly treat and still end up with 200+ calories on a regular day. On my work out days it gives me roughly 1000+ calories short at the end of a day. I can't eat anymore. I am standing still at 217 pounds, 5'7'' (female) and have my diet set to 1200 calories a day.
How could I healthily increase my calories?0 -
I'm an expert by no means, but I really love avocado for a healthy fat/ calorie upper. I agree with the others too, nut butters or nuts0

Question is....are you eating back all your calories burned?
You wont see too much loss after the water weight drops if you continue down this road.
At any rate....1200 seems low.
I'll give you an example.
I have clients at 5'3" eating 1800-2000 cals a day and losing significant weight.
You on the other hand will be slowing RMR down in hopes that the fat will fuel your day.
In a way it will but in the long run its going to take a very long time to get to goal.
This is my method and it works!

Its based off the idea that if you give fat a reason not to exist then you wont have it.
The 4 major biological functions of fat tissue are (1) energy storage (2) toxin storage (3) protection against insulin resistance, and (4) protection against estrogen decline in women. Eliminate the functions of fat tissue also eliminates the reasons for its existence.
So do you think 1200 calories is the right way to get rid of unwanted fat?
Do you think that sometime in the future when you have ANY meal that takes you above your total daily burn that it wont go straight to fat storage?
1200 will certainly prime you for it.
Do what you feel comfortable with but read this and let me know if you have any Qs.

outofthougts...try eating more healthy but higher calorie foods such as nuts, advocado, bananas etc....GL
