What does eating clean mean?

I've been eating an appropriate about of calories, exercising daily, drinking my water, and haven't been losing weight or inches. I try my best to eat "healthy" but sometimes that just doesn't happen. I really want to make an effort to eat cleaner but I kind of need to know what that consists of.

Don't forget to rinse the soap off...unless you have a dirty mouth.0 -
Open your diary and we can give you better advice. Just curious how you determined your appropriate amount of calories?
And clean eating usually means focusing on minimally processed foods which usually give you more bang for your buck so to speak when it comes to nutrients vs. cals.0 -
I understood it to mean fresh. Not processed. Like sausage, most lunchmeats, frozen dinners, etc.0

Eating food it in it's least processed form.0

I understood it to be this way too.. similiar to the Paleo diet..i think0 -
I'm not a clean eater, but I aim to make the majority of my food stuff that was close to the form in which it was found in nature. IE, whole potatoes instead of instant, chicken breast instead of chicken nuggets, fruits and vegetables fresh or frozen instead of canned with a ton of preservatives, a hunk of cheese from the deli instead of a can of spray cheese...
For pure convenience, though, I do sometimes have frozen dinners for lunch, and I love protein bars because they taste like candy but have nutritional benefits.0 -

I was curious about eating clean too and the websites below helped me to figure it out. I do not follow it perfectly, as I will not give up my salad dressing :P and sometimes... I like a sweet treat. Hope these help!

Ok let's not start giving misinformation.
Sausage is not "processed" if you buy quality sausage. Sausage is simply ground meat and spices stuffed into a casing that is often natural.0 -

Similar to here if you want to check out their recipe forums. I have read some of Tosca Reno's books and the recipes are pretty good.0 -
look up Tosca Reno. She really brought the subject to light a few years ago. Some of her recipes are complicated but very tasty and she looks like a million dollars!0

Grinding meat IS processing it. :huh:0 -
Spray with windex... and consume.0

Think the parameter of the grocery store..... basically non-processed. Fresh/Frozen fruits vegetables, lean meats, complex carbs like whole grains.. So- basically what was said above- not processed- What comes from the earth naturally (not "dirty" with chemicals, sweeteners, preservatives and all that other "junk") IMO anyway :-)0

Ok I guess technically you're right. I should have stated that just because its processed doesn't mean its not "clean".0 -
Try cutting out processed food. Such as things in a box. Fish, eggs, chicken, oatmeal, vegetables, fruit. try sticking to whole grains, such as brown rice.
examples:
Eggs w 2 tbsp natural salsa
Oatmeal , quick oats, sprinkle w cinnamon and sliced peach on top
Grilled chicken, broccoli, sweet potato
Tilapia, asparagus, brown rice0 -
Organic, healthy, natural, like good clean foods from the earth, food that is FOOD and not processed, filled with fillers, preservatives, hormones, or artificial colors/flavors. Foods with no added sugar, or sugar substitutes.

The closer the food to its natural form, the better.0

Clean usually consists of natural things for your body. For example anything with color, red peppers, green peppers, lettuce, tomatoes. Anything fresh and natural is most likely going to be clean. Anything that is oily or fatty will clog you up and you will be able to see a physical difference, like whenever I eat potato chips I get greasy skin etc, it will reflect on you. If you start to eat more clean you'll notice better, smoother, blemish-free skin and you will have a healthy glow to you.0
