This sounds absolutely awful and I can't see how anyone doing this could feel good after even day one. Eating that little amount of food, and such dissatisfying food would have me starving all the time. No protein, fibre or fats - how do you stay satiated without them? And to eliminate entire food groups... Is it not common knowledge that this is just all around bad yet?

The goal is healthy living. If you live the way you should to maintain a healthy, normal physique, your body will change to suit it. Then when you get there, you just continue living the way.

This should be a lifestyle change and no one can or should sustain living every week the absurd way this diet suggests. Totally unnatural.

The section on 'why it works' doesn't resemble scientific fact whatsoever...

My suspicion with this diet would be that:
    a) you would lose weight because a reduction in calories - and potentially not even fat, but muscle and water loss
    b) malnourishment because of so many missing nutritional components required for healthy living
    c) it is totally unsustainable and you would gain back even more as soon as you 'go back' to eating the way you did before

Eat right, eat proper portions, exercise. <- THIS IS THE ONLY WAY

I have 4 friends who have all done this. They call it a "cleanse". They all lost weight...and promptly gained it all back. Why be miserable for a week? I think it sounds gross and unhealthy.

You should reply back with a delicious but super fattening recipe like " Only eat this for 1 week and you will lose 5lbs a day. Start off by eating 1 whole can of nutella with a gallon of chocholate milk......etc! Lol.

It is frightening to me that someone is passing this around a fitness site. Why would anyone want to intentionally punish their digestive system like this? I think you see by all the responses that no one thinks this is the way to go. Dropping 10 pounds in a week sounds great and you seem to be eating all the food groups, but there is absolutely NO SCIENCE involved in this diet.

    Love this!!

Was the OP's question a joke? I'm not trying to judge, but c'mon...

Edit: OP, I apologize if my comment seems rude...I take for granted that I've already done all of these fads diets and know the answer. Best of luck to you, take care!! :flowerforyou:

I'll be honest, I replied the moment my bullish!t alarm went off. If this post was intended purely as humor, my bad.

Hopefully my reply helped someone though, as the comments were still valid.

Ok below is an email I got from someone. What are your thoughts on this?
Is this healthy and ok to do?

    Starts here...

    Hello,

Here is a copy of a new diet I am about to launch, and I thought you might be interested.

Please try it and give me your feedback, but DO NOT give it to anyone else at the moment, because I have not launched it to the public yet.

It's Safe, Effective and Totally Healthy.

    God Bless You and Yours!

Farmvile Diet: Lose 10-17 lbs. per week (7 Days) whenever you chose to lose

This program is designed for a target weight loss
of 10-17 lbs per week. It will also improve your
attitude and emotions because of its cleansing
    systematic effects.

The effectiveness of the Farmville 7 Day Diet Plan
is that the food eaten burn more calories than they
give to the body in caloric value.

This plan can be used as often as you like without
any fear of complications. It is designed to flush
your system of impurities and give you a feeling
of well being. After seven days you will begin to
feel lighter because you will be lighter by at least
10 lbs. You will have an abundance of energy, and
    an improved disposition.

During the first seven days you must abstain from
    all alcohol

You "MUST" drink 10 glasses of water each day

    Day One

All fruits except bananas. Your first day will
consist of all the fruits you want. It is strongly
suggested that you consume lots of melons the
first day. Especially watermelon and a loupe.
If you limit your fruit consumption to melons,
your chances of losing three lbs. on first day
    are Very Good.

    Day Two

All vegetables. You are encouraged to eat until
you are stuffed with all the raw or cooked vegetables
of your choice. There is no limit on the amount or type.
For your complex carbohydrate, you will start day two
with a large baked potato for breakfast. You may top
the potato with one pat of butter.

    Day Three

A mixture of fruits and vegetables of your choice. Any
amount, any quantity. No bananas yet. No potatoes today.

    Day Four

Bananas and milk. Today you will eat as many as eight
    (8) bananas and drink three (3) glasses of milk. This
will be combined with the special soup which may be
    eaten in limited quantities.

    Day Five

Today is feast day. You will eat beef and tomatoes.
Eat two 10 oz. portions of lean beef. Hamburger is
OKAY. Combine this with six whole tomatoes. On
day five you must increase your water intake by
one quart. This is to cleanse your system of the
uric acid you will be producing.

    Day Six

Beef and vegetables. Today you may eat an unlimited
amount of beef and vegetables. Eat to your hearts content.

    Day Seven

Today your food intake will consist of brown rice,
fruit juices and all the vegetables you care to consume.

Tomorrow morning you WILL be 10-17 lbs. lighter
    than one week ago.

If you desire further weight loss, repeat the program
again. You may repeat this program as often as you
like, however, it is suggested that you are allowed
two glasses of white wine in addition to the instructions
on the program. You may substitute champagne for
white wine. Under no circumstances are you to drink
any other alcoholic beverages with the exception of
beer which is allowed. Any liquor (bourbon, vodka,
rum) is forbidden. Cream drinks are especially forbidden.
You may have an occasional cordial such as Creme De
Menthe or Schnapps, but you must always limit yourself
to two drinks. If you wine, drink only wine that day. If
you have beer, drink only beer that day, etc. Alcohol
adds empty calories to your diet. However, after the
first week it will help your digestion and settle your
    stomach.

    Farmville Soup

The following soup is intended as a supplement to your diet. It can be eaten any
time of the day in virtually unlimited quantities. You are encouraged to consume
    large quantities of this soup.

28 oz, Water, 6 Large Onions, 2 Green Peppers, Whole Tomatoes (fresh or canned),
1 Head Cabbage, 1 Bunch Celery, 4 Envelopes Lipton Onion Soup Mix, Herbs and
    Flavoring as desired.

    Additional Comments

Vegetables as may be taken in the form of a salad if desired. No dressing except
malt, white or wine vinegar, squeezed lemon, garlic, herbs. No more than one tea
    spoon of oil.

You have been given a recipe for the WONDER SOUP which can be eaten in unlimited
quantities. This soup is a supplement while you are on the program and it should
be a pleasure to eat. Not everyone likes cabbage, green peppers, calory etc.
This recipe is not inflexible. You may substitute vegetables according to your
taste. You may add any vegetables you like: asparagus, peas, corn, turnips,
green beans, cauliflower, etc. Try to stay away from beans (lima, pinto, kidney,
etc.), however, because they tend to be high in calories even though they are
    very good for you.

    Beverages
you may consume while on the program :

    1. Water (flavoured with lemon/lime if desired).
    2. Club Soda is OK.<br>
    3. Black Coffee. No cream or cream substitute. No sugar or sweetness.
    4. Black Tea = Herb or Leaf.
    5. Absolutely nothing else except the fruit juices which are part of day seven.
No fruit juices before day seven.

    How and Why It Works

Day One you are preparing your system for the upcoming programme. Your
only source of nutrition is fresh or canned fruits. Fruits are nature's perfect
food. They provide everything you could possibly want to sustain life except
    total balance and variety.

Day Two starts with a fix of complex carbo-hydrates coupled with an oil
dose. This is taken in the morning for energy and balance. The rest of day two
consists of vegetables which are virtually calorie free and provide essential
    nutrients and fiber.

Day Three eliminates the potato because you get your carbohydrates from
the fruits. You system is now prepared to start burning excess pounds. You will
still have cravings which should start to diminish by day four.

Day Four, bananas, milk and soup sound the strangest and least desirable.
You're in for a surprise. You probably will not eat all the bananas allowed. But
they are there for the potassium you have lost and the sodium you may have
missed the past three days. You will notice a definite loss of desire for
sweets. You will be surprised how easy this day will go.

Day Five, Beef and tomatoes. The beef is for iron and proteins, the
tomatoes are for digestion and fiber. Lots and lots of water purifies your
system. You should notice colorless urine today. Your allowance calls for the
equivalent of five "quarter ponders". Do not feel you have to eat all this beef.
You must eat the six tomatoes.

Day Six is similar to day five, Iron and proteins from beef, Vitamins and
fiber from vegetables. By now your system is in a total weight loss inclination.
There should be a noticeable difference in the way you look today, compared to
    day one.

Day Seven finished off the program like a good cigar used to finish off
Victorian meals, except much healthier. You have your system under control and
it should thank you for the flushing and cleaning you just gave it.

Ah....its a reincarnation of the old Cabbage Soup diet. Don't do it. Actually...don't do anything that is advertised as a "diet". Invariably its bizzarre and unsustainable and frequently downright unhealthful.
  • Gosh.. I was just asking.. Some people are rude on here huh?

You haven't read through these forums before? The responses weren't half as bad as I expected..

It sounds miserable, and I love fruits and veggies. All I could think about reading it was getting brain fog, shakes, weakness and confusion, and headaches. If you want to try something similar but with more protein and fat, try the O2 4 day cleanse. I have trouble eating all the food even though it is low calorie because of all the water and fiber. (I am also a vegan so I've never eaten the cleanse exactly the way it is designed--I have to substitute tofu or protein powder for the meat.)

Hahaha this diet sounded whack just from the dude's intro all secretive and hush hush. Sounds like you got email Spam, too bad it's not the kind you can actually eat hahaha. Actually I have no clue what that stuff is or taste like but this diet sounds right along the same lines, no thank you :D

Actually I have tried this diet and I lost 10 pounds in 7 days... but I gained the weight again...I dont know if I gained the weight because I started to eat a loooot or because this diet doesnt really work. Maybe you should try that... but I think the best thing you can do is try another kind of diet (more healthy). Kisses

I have heard of this diet. I have one friend who's a total "hippie" and I couldn't believe it when she kept talking about this diet as if it were an innovative way to be healthy.

Sure, there's some merit to it, but it's basically just telling you to eat more veggies and fruits and to cut out "crap." Can't you do that on your own, and on your own terms? (For instance, I personally would not do the "bananas and milk" day, because I am severely lactose-intolerant and don't see the point in eating that much sugar, natural or otherwise, in one day.)

I think diets like this are for people who are trying to lose weight fast and aren't good at coming up with and sticking to their own rules. Sometimes it's also fun to try a diet like this, especially if your friends are doing it, too. But I don't think it's necessarily healthy.

Instead, why don't you make up your own list of rules and follow those? You can tailor them exactly to your own body's needs and preferences. Oh yeah, that's basically what MFP already does. :P

    RIDICULOUS!

    EIGHT bananas in one day?

TWO 10 oz serving of beef in one day with hamburger being OK?

I couldn't even get through the rest of the idiocy in that "diet plan".

What works (in a normal healthy person) is to eat fewer calories than you burn each day, to choose healthy, nutrient dense foods as unprocessed as possible and move your body.

There is no "magic pill" or super diet to make it fast and easy. (super fast weight loss, aside from being unhealthy is almost always water and will come right back on)

It requires hard work and discipline.

But the payoff is worth it.
  • Losing 10-17 pounds per week does not even pass the straight face test. It takes approximately 3600 calories to burn one pound, and this is not considering that you may be burning off muscle instead of fat. Even so, 3600 x 10 = 36,000....so you would need to have a calorie deficit of 36,000 calories in one week (that's over 5100 calories left over each day!) in order to lose 10 pounds. It is impossible to do in a healthy manner.

I stopped at "target weight loss of 10-17 lbs per week", this is in no way healthy. As to your question, I would not do it.

Okay out of temptation read the rest, you will lose weight on this fad diet, just like the good old cabbage soup diet you will be running to the bathroom every five minutes.

I read that as well and went "bullsh*t....."

It's starvation.. plain and simple.. You will lose a ****-ton of weight as you deprive your body and then when the 10 day cycle is over?? Gain it all back, then start over until you kill yourself from malnutrition....

Definately DONT do it... and is this someone you know or random? The way it's worded screams SPAM/SCAM to me anyway.
  • Hahaha! That is awesome! I'll get right on that.

All I read was "You can...." ....."You can't....." Any "diet" that tells me what I can and cannot consume can kiss it.

Weren't you supposed to not show it to anyone? We'll see if I send you any of my secret diets from now on . . .

I second what everyone else said. You could eat pretty much anything for one week and you wouldn't die. You could eat nothing. But what would be the point? Be kind to your body and it will be kind to you.

No you should not do this. It's idiotic, it's not necessary.

Any DIET that tells you exactly what you eat should be discarded immediately as it very clearly is not considering your individual needs or your tastebuds.

and also ask yourself this "can you do it for life?" IF you can't, dont waste your time. What happens when you get off it?
Key word- Can you do it for life-- The correct term is LIFESTYLE CHANGE... if it is not a lifestyle change, it will not work.
