Confused and frusterated

For some reason I am having a hard time losing weight this time around. I have come to terms that I will gain weight no matter what with each pregnancy.... Thought I had it down on the weighloss afterwards but can't seem too this time. Don't know what I am doing wrong! I have calculated that I need to cut my calories to 1600 a day to lose 1 lb a week. I am on thyroid meds and my dr said that it was ok for me to lose 2-3 lbs a week but for no more than 4 weeks. That is my goal. When I work out on my elliptical I usually burn in between 400-800 cals a day depends on If I work out a full hour or not. My dr said I was working out too much and to just walk for an hour a day.... Tried that and nothing has happened! Not 1 lb in two weeks, but he said that I need to work out an hour a day and at one time...
So I am wanting to go back to the elliptical but if I am wanting to lose 2-3lbs a week and I am burning 800 cals a day do I need to increase my calories that I am taking in...don't want to be eating too little...
Confused!!!!!

Ellipticals and other exercise equipment are notorious for reporting the wrong amount of calories burned on any given exercise...
Especially if they do not monitor your heart rate... They all follow a simple mathematical formula and lets face it, the numbers don't take into account YOU .. How your body operates..
That being said..... There isn't any magic to it... You are deemed fat and never allowed to lose weight ........
You exercise regularly and you eat healthy EVERY DAY ( I can't see your Diary to see how you are doing )
As long as you are eating a calorie deficit you will begin to lose wait...
I do not know how far postpartum you are but remember your body just did an awesome thing and it can take several months for your body to recover and get back on track.0 -
its very possible your meds are off? my wife has thyroid issues and when she slips into a hypothyroid position its impossible to lose weight. maybe your hormone levels are just a little crazy after the pregnancy.0

How far postpartum are you? I would suggest being a little more patient with yourself. It took 9 months to put the weight on, and it will take at least that long for your body to come back.0

My youngest is now 15 months.... And the weight does not want to budge.... With my 3 year old my weight was off by 12 months.... I know that the more kids you have the harder it is to get the weight off and this is number 5 for me. According to my dr my meds are right where they need to be... As for my elliptical, it is gym series and I have it set to my weight and age and it does monitor my heart rate.
My big question is how many calories do I need to be eating if I am burning over 500 cals a day...no matter what is it don't go below 1200 cals?
Ex. If i Eat 1600 cals a day only burn 400 that day exercising ?0 -
Could be you're not eating enough. If I net less than around 1300 per day, I go into a plateau that won't break until I eat more. Remember that 1200 isn't a "magic number" of calories - everyone is different and with 2 young ones at home, my guess is that you need to eat more than you think.0

If you need to eat 1600 calories and you burn 500, you need to eat 2100 calories to lose a pound a week. You need to eat back your exercise calories, your body needs the food as fuel for breathing, heart rate, your organs to function as they should etc etc.My youngest is now 15 months.... I'd do 1200 calories a day and don't exercise..see how that works... then if you start losing...add some exercise and eat back a fraction of the calories.
Right now..I eat 1200 and i'm losing..when I used to eat 1500 I didn't. I also learned that when I don't exercise my body drops weight easier than when I'm exercising..so I'm saving that for when I stall or near the end when I want to shape up.0
