Logging Gum?

I feel silly even asking this but someone made a comment to me the other day about how I'm not 100% honest with my food diary because I don't log my gum. It had never crossed my mind that I should log it! I know it is 5 calories per stick but I guess I don't exactly think its a huge deal whether its logged or not. What do you guys think? Is there anyone who logs their gum or is it a waste of time?

I would never in a million years start logging my gum. But that's just me.0

I don't chew gum so honestly - I never thought about it. I'd say it depends on whether it has calories. I'd just look at the wrapper. Ironically, you may have to log in your vitamins too. They apparently also have calories. Sheesh.0

I also say NO to logging gum!0

Different theories on this. I know when I was doing Turbofire that Chalene Johnson recommended counting 200 calories to capture everything like this. To me 5 calories is irrelevant.0

Watch out... that 5 calorie gum is going to completely ruin your day. You will NEVER lose weight.0

I WAS THNKING ABOUT THIS THE OTHER DAY............AHAHAH... but i wud add it, just me. lol0

bahaha i love this. I know 5 calories isn't a big deal, I was just curious as to whether anyone else logs their gum or not. I never saw the point.0 -

I log mine because every thing counts- the sugar and calorie content.0

Doesn't chewing gum burn calories?
I guess I would log it if I was chewing more than 2 or so pieces a day? I never chew gum really, so I havent thought about it.0 -
If your chewing through 10 or 20 or more sticks per day, you may want to keep an eye on it, but if you're chewing one or two a day, no big deal.0
-
It really depends on how many pieces you chew in a day. If it is only one piece per day then no I wouldn't log it. If it is more than that, then yes I would log it. I had one piece of gum one day and I did log it, but it is strictly up to you. I don't chew gum much anymore myself.0

I logged it a few times, then I was like WTF am I doing? Really? I'm sure I walked that gum off from the office to my car.0

I log my vitamins.
But it's just so I can monitor my vitamin intake better!0 -
Depending on how much you chew and if you get REALLY close to your calorie limit.0
-
if you log your gum then you have to log you chewing it as exercise..0
-
what? first of all your burning cals as u chew and a whole 5 or less cals...ppl need to get a life (not u lol)0
-
Hahahahahaaaaa! That's like logging a fart as exercise!0

I don't log gum or other things like black coffee, diet soda and splenda. I don't think its gonna mess with your weightloss. You gotta be realistic with your time0
-
I usually wont log anything lower than 20cals, its a waste of time and a little obsessive. You probably burn the five cals it takes to unwrap and chew the gum sooo, dont sweat it.0
-
if its lower than 15 calories, i don't log it, that is like logging water. they say that water has like 5 calories per glass or something like that. i think its just silly to over analize it, if your chewing 293838 pieces of gum a day, yes log it, if its under10 pieces, i wouldn't bother, for the same reason i dont log normal activities as exercise:: washes dishes: 20 calories takes bath: 23 calories. lol0

nooooooo.... please, no.0

nooooooo.... please, no.
srsly0 -
I don't chew gum, so it's not an issue to me, but if it's only occasional I wouldn't bother. If you are chewing it all day and clocking up 100 cals a day, then it should probably be included, but otherwise, I wouldn't bother.
I don't log my 2 or 3 black coffees every day, or a sprinkle of fresh parsley on my dinner or those other very small items. I know they all add up, but I'm not convinced that I need to be quite that accurate.0 -
I used to, but I read in several different places that you burn about 10 calories per hour chewing gum, and I always chew a single stick for WAY longer than that LOL! Also I chew sugar free so the sugar isn't an issue (:0

I'm not sure I even want to find out if they have an exercise titled "Chewing Gum". LOL. I bet if you chew long enough, you'll probably burn off the calories. The question is "How long to burn off the calories in the gum?"
Oops. I posted after the person above me. I'm not sure I could chew gum for that long. Ouch.0 -
Not unless you start chewing between 50 and 100 pieces a day.....0
-
I'd have to say that the day I started logging gum would be the day I logged walking from my bedroom to my bathroom as exercise. Of course, I don't chew gum, so what do I know?!0
-
I don't log gum or my chewable vitamins (~15 calories). I do honestly log everything else.0
-
lol I thought about it but no. It's just a waste of time0
