Someone showed me a product called HCG Ultra and I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I don't know a whole lot about it other than it's kind of expensive. Has anyone here tried it? If so, what were your results?...were you able to keep the weight off??

Personally, I think not only is it UNSAFE, it is short term. 2 of my cousins did the HCG diet and they are now both bigger than they started out. Sure they lost some weight initially. Who wouldn't eating 500 calories a day? But then their bodies freaked out and packed on even more.0
-
It is unsafe and short term only. Whatever you lose, you will most likely gain back because you will have not changed your lifestyle. Save your money and skip that junk.0
-
Ok, thanks. I don't know much about the product and didn't realize you could only consume 500 calories per day...that definitely wouldn't work for me.
Thanks for your input.0 -
Ultra scam.

Yup.
Glad to see you're not using this.
You've lost 21 lbs already, and that is awesome. Obviously what you're doing is working so keep doing it.0 -
Please don't do it, it is so unsafe both in the short term and long term. You can lose weight the healthy way and keep it off.0

On the side of the page the ad is for a class action settlement against HCG. You'd think that would be enough. Nope. People still defend it.
Good on you for checking here first and getting the truth. I love when MFP can keep someone away from a dangerous fad diet. Warms my cold, dead heart.0 -

Looks to me that you are well on your way to a healthy lifestyle, why sabotage it with fads, pills, drops, or voodoo? They don’t work, it’s all of the stuff that you do with it (diet or exercise) that “works” and most of the time the accompanied “plans” are unhealthy and impossible to maintain over the long term. You keep sticking with your long term plan. I don’t know about yours, but mine is to eat relatively healthy, exercise like a freak, and live for another 100 years because this isn’t just about today, it’s about all the days following it as well.0 -
This perfectly sums up my feelings on the subject:

Eat well-balanced, nutritious meals and snacks in sensible portions, indulge cravings sensibly, move your body, and drink water.
Do not consume pregnant lady pee.
...unless it's a fetish of yours, in which case just do it for the enjoyment factor and not to lose weight.0 -
You are 21 lbs down. Keep going, just you All of those fad diets work for a little while by putting your body into starvation mode.. as soon as you start eating again, your body stores it double time!0
-
HCG Ultra is a great and effective product.
When it comes to scamming you out of money.0 -
Is that the same thing as the Cat Pee Diet or the ad with the old 70 year old man with a 20 year olds body?
Don't fall for these type of products. Just do it yourself. yeah it may take longer but the results are well worth it0 -
My personal opinion? its cheatig, disgusting and you're better off doing this all the only way that comes with a guarantee.
Eat healthy.
Exercise doing workouts that use both type of muscle fibers
Drink your water
Get enough sleep
Health GUARANTEED0 -

Ah I miss the old days. There would be at least a few dingbats saying "It's great! A doctor in Mexico give me the pills in a brown paper bag. The hair that's falling out of my head is really adding to my weight loss. I'd finish this sentence but I'm literally starv..."0 -

Good luck with your weight loss, but the HCG diet has done nothing but HARM to people I know that used it.
The only reason people lose weight on that plan is you are only allowed to eat 500 calories a day. HCG has been scientifically proven to do NOTHING to help with weight loss or to make it safe to eat only 500 calories a day. It will not protect muscle, reset your metabolism or do anything else the snake oil salesmen that sell it claim. Dr. Simeons was a quack doctor. His "HCG protocol" has absolutely NO scientific backing and is not worth risking your health on.
Any doctor that pushes the HCG diet plan should be stripped of their license to practice medicine because they are being totally unethical and giving advice that goes against the conclusions of all reliable scientific research on the subject.
The HCG diet has been studied by many scientific organizations, and they all concluded that HCG, even the "real" injectable version, is no more effective than a placebo, and eating only 500 calories a day for weeks, as recommended by that plan, can cause more health problems than it solves.
I know some people that put their faith in the HCG diet, and became very ill from malnutrition as a result. Then they regained more weight than they lost. Now they wish they never heard of HCG.
The Government is now in the process of getting all that fraudulent stuff off the market, and it's about time!

I know some people who did HCG Ultra and it worked wonders. I also know some people who tried it, and it bounce back up there again. I myself have not tried it, simply because I can't see myself being successful on 500 calories a day. I appreciate everyone's thoughts, but my experiences have been nothing but good from my observations, as long as you are smart about it. My friends dropped over 20 lbs each in a month, and have kept it off. I think the key is making sure that you don't go back to the lifestyle you had before you started. I personally know that I need to train myself to work hard & make proper eating decisions or I will never lose the weight I want. I Yo-Yo diet frequently and it just isn't sustainable. If anyone is looking for HCG Ultra, I would recommend getting at http://www.myhcgultradiet.com. From what my friends tell me, there are several different brands called HCG Ultra but that is the one they trust.
That being said, I would venture to say that most people can agree, nothing good ever came to someone who didn't want to work for it. I believe that applies here as well.0 -
I haven't tried it but have 2 friends that did - they bought the drops and followed the recommended 500 calorie a day diet. (I'll leave my opinion on THAT out of this reply though.)
One of them stuck to it for a whole month and lost 20 lbs... and now that she's been off of it for a month she's gained 20 lbs back.
The other one stuck with it to get down to her magical "size 2", but was afraid that when she started eating normally again she would gain the weight back so, she started a new regime. She's very happy as a size 2, but is losing her hair because all she eats everyday is rice and chicken and has to exercise for 2 hours a day to maintain the weight loss.
So, hope that helps with your decision making process.0 -
Stupid.... Scam.... Dangerous.... Worthless... Doesn't Work.... Don't Do It!
Those are my thoughts on it.0 -

If I could eat 500 calories a day successfully, I wouldn't have 60lbs to lose. :bigsmile:0

I did HcG and gained all the weight back the minute I had to eat normally again (pregnancy) and in less time than it took me to lose it. Skip it entirely. Going Paleo and a bit of walking would have caused me to lose about the same amount of weight in about the same amount of time and have been able to KEEP it off AND get a HEALTHY thin body at the end of it. I wish I'd known that before I shelled out so much money and put myself through the hell of 500 calories a day and only being able to eat like 8 different foods for six months.0
