I just bought my BodyMedia Fit last week. I have been plateued at 170 for the past 2 months and I have lost 1.2 pounds since this past Friday! I have come to find out that on a gym day I burn at least 2600 calories and I was only eating about 1400 or so! I love this thing!! I just went for a walk during lunch (I work in Manhattan) and I checked my calorie burn before and after my 50 minute walk... I burned about 240 calories! The food tracking database does kind of suck but I have been entering in stuff on my own to try it anyway. I do like the info the reports give you much better than what you see on MFP (But I still love MFP).0

Oh... I tried the FitBit a few months ago... I could not get the damn thing connected to any computer AT ALL! Their customer service was no help either. I have had no issues at all with the BodyMedia Fit :-)0

I have one and got good info from it, and I like how much it motivated me (I ALWAYS take my dog on a longer evening walk, watching my steps add up). Came with a 6 month subscription and I doubt I'll want it beyond that (I'll already know what I burn by then). I got it for $79 using a link:
http://bodybugg.extole.com/a/clk/4l6MGq
You get a code from that link that you use as a coupon code on the site and it takes $20 off.
Edited to add: I learned that you can buy new 6 month subscriptions on eBay for only $19.99 - the feedback on them is nearly 100% so they definitely work. AND if you tuck the bodybugg into your bra strap you get info almost identical to wearing it on your arm
Ohhhh I am so going to try that!
Definitely try it! Take the bugg off the armband - It's about at the level it would be if it was on your arm. Make sure it's the right way up, and tuck it into the side of your band on your left side. I especially do this when wearing sleeveless. Seriously not any major difference in calories or steps.0 -
Where did you find it for $99? I have a FitBit but I've thought abuot getting this too (I love my workout gadgets! I also would feel more comfy wearing this than my Fitbit while I sweat and work out due to the size)
The 24 hour fitness website, and use a link to get a $20 off code and it's $79.

I am going to have to try this as well... just to make sure I put it in the right place... you are talking about the band part of the bra like underneath your arm?0 -

Yes, exactly. Sorry, it's confusing talking about band/strap/etc. It goes right underneath your left arm, connectors to your skin of course, facing the proper way up. Give it a try on an average day then compare the results to when you wore it on your arm. Seriously awesome. Though usually I just put it on my arm, I hate it when I'm wearing sleeveless!0 -

This would be great during work if I am wearing sleeveless... everybody asks me about it! I honestly do not mind the arm strap at all though. I thought it might bug the crap out of me but I don't even notice it is there!0 -
I have the Body Media Fit and wear it in my bra all the time except during exercise. I have consistantly lost an average of 1-2 pounds per week since I got mine back at the end of March. I found it eye opening as to how many calories that I actually burn on a daily basis. I also find that it helps to push me to do more in my workouts to get my numbers up. The food database sucks so I log all y food here on MFP and then just enter it as one lump sum on the Body Media site.0

So you can take the body bug off the band and wear it by your bra strap? It doesn't fall out? Not uncomfortable?0
-
As long as your bra is tight enough, it stays in place just fine. It isn't uncomfortable at all. I don't even feel it.0

FITBIT.....................no need to say more! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE mine and I was like you, I researched for about a month before I bought it. They sell it now at Bestbuy.0

You sold me on that one!!! I am getting a Fitbit for myself as well. I was researching for awhile because that is a bit pricey for a small gadget. Can't wait to buy it next week! I might go to Best Buy now since you said they have it.0 -
I'm a gadget girl, have all three - a Bodybugg, a FitBit and a Polar HRM FT7 (just got that one this week). Impressions:
1) Bodybugg does a pretty good job, is clunky on the arm and the website's database (particularly for food ) is terrible and not particularly user friendly. And they charge for it. that said, it measures well and you can parse the data alot of ways (and I'm a data girl, too).
FYI the version of the Bodybugg that syncs with SmartPhones has been nothing but trouble for iPhone users (can't speak for other smartphones) - terrible problems with the software. I haven't used it for the past two months (since I got the FitBit) but had dumped the app because it was so horrible - slow, crashed alot, etc. Might be fixed, but definitely look for comments on iTunes.
2) FitBit - they're having quality control issues with their manufacturers and it shows. Mine died after two months; turns out that they do not do as well worn near the body / sweat than first thought so might want use the clip (which solve the problem). However, I've found their forums/community/troubleshooting t be very timely and their customer service good enough - I have a new one coming. I like it because it is simple, the displays are fun and immediate, and it synchs with MFP which I found when I threw away the BB app.
3) Polar HRM - was advised to buy this by my trainer because I wanted to track myself as I get back into the pool and neither the FitBit nor the BB are waterproof. So far I've worn it 3 days and like it alot.
I've also gone back to wearing my BB while my FitBit is on the fritz - have about a month subscription left on the site so am tracking total calories burned that way. Last night I wore the BB and the Polar to do a dance workout and they were pretty close re: tracking/calorie estimation.
Like all tools, it depends on what your requirements actually are. Once I have my replacement unit I'll go back to the FitBit for ease of use and unobtrusiveness, also because of the synching to MFP, but use the Polar when I'm in the pool - and will probably use both when I'm walking just to compare for a while but expect I'll go back to the FitBit just for gentle walks.0 -
I have one and love it!! I wear it now only when doing workouts to get more accurate calorie burns. I like it better than a HRM.0
-
It sounds exactly like the FitBit which is $100 and free for their services. I have a fitbit, and I love it0

I have the fitbit also. Just upgraded to the fitbit ultra, which also tracks stairs climbed. The website is laid out very well, customer service is excellent and I have met many great people on the fitbit forums, and on Facebook. Once you have it set up, you can track your progress on the website also. Here you can set goals for yourself for the day, like how many steps you want to take, calories burned, miles traveled etc. I have found it very addicting to watch my numbers change and it has motivated me to make sure I reach the goals I set for myself for the day. Now that I have it linked with MFP it has become much easier to monitor my calories in/out.0

I have a bugg & HRM - hiking the past 2 days, the bugg said 233 & the HRM said 92. That's a huge difference. Yesterday bugg said 550 HRM said 233. I've had my bug for 15wks& have gained 13 lbs. I did a calorie reset with EMTWL, and due to me eating every calorie my bugg said I'd burned I've gained 13 lbs due to it being inaccurate ( and me eating back my exercise cals), but mostly it overestimating my burns. It was nice in the beginning to get an idea, but now it's tucked in a drawer & I'm using the scoobys workshop to know how many cals to eat & HRM for fig my burn. The digital display is a MUST though.0

Thank you all sooooo much for all your input on the Body Bugg and he Fitbit!! I really appreciate it!! :flowerforyou:0

My bugg is in my bra today! I really think this is the way to go! I'll still put it on my arm when I'm at the gym but for work....bra all the way.0
