5-8 male 216 age 34 and currently consuming flat 1400 at 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat. -4lbs since 7-31-2012

Thank You for posting

(note: I have had my calories higher in the past going as high as 3000 and not losing. I currently consume 1 gallon of water a day. I tried the eating more and eating back the exercise calorie routine, and not having any luck. So, I am trying this method. I have not seen a new low since 8-5-2012 on the scale, but it has slowly been moving down which is a positive. Since dropping calorie intake a month ago I am down 4 lbs)

    Was 337 - Lost 140 lbs in 7 months @ 1200 - 1300 calories a day.

Current ~182 maintaining @ 3350 daily (Trying to slow bulk...just can't shake the former fattie syndrome entirely)

    40% Carbs / 40% Protein / 20% fats

    Changing to 35/40/25 soon.

    183-184
In the neighborhood of 12% bodyfat, pics are current.

    Aiming for ~2350ish calories
    Roughly

    180g pro
    65g fat
    250 cho

Cut from ~196 to 184. Took my time and had several cheat days that slowed my progress. Purely intentional on my part :)

Continuing to about ~180-182 at a guess.

Was 263. Ate around 1500 cals for months to get down to..

    170. Probably around 10-12% body fat

Now upped my cals to "unlimited" to bulk a bit, focusing on protein. Gained 7lbs so far.

    So currently 177.

    BEAST!!!

I'm 6'2". I cut my calories back to 2000-2200 daily and dropped about 35 pounds to my current weight (210). I'm eating about 2500 net calories for maintenance which means I need to eat up near 3000 on heavy exercise days. Honestly some days if not for peanut butter I wouldn't make my calorie goal. It takes work to eat 3000 calories. I normally don't make it but I need to cut a bit more BF% so it's good. Down to about 15% currently. Would love to get in the 10%-12% range.

I'm not cutting like I was when i wanted to shed body fat, but here is where i was and what i was doing then. This all happened from late april to mid july:

    6'3
    32 male
    was at 214ish
    14-16% bf
    1700 Calories (50p/30c/20f)
    worked out 5-6 times/wk
after 3 mos weight was 183-185 @6% bf

sidenote: i stayed on my cut a little too long and now i am around 180 @ 5% bf. I want to gain some muscle i lost so i am increasing my calories gradually.

    About 2800 cals/day.

Losing faster than a pound a week right now, and about 15-20 lbs from goal (goal is about 10% body fat).

    40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fat.

I realize everyone is different but at what weight did you start noticing central abdominal separation? I'm at about 210 and while I can see this nice "V" going down from my obliques towards the center, the top part of my stomach from the belly-button up still has this 1/4" layer of fat. It would be awesome to cut that out but I don't know if I want to go much below 200. That would be scary.

You know, I was more focused on bf% and I think I started seeing abs sub 10%. I was in the mid 190's and noticed them if I remember correctly.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you afraid to go below 200? I was the same way, but I realized that in order for me to get where I wanted to be I had to drop weight. I admit I went hard and dropped weight quickly, but I like where I am now. When I decide to clean bulk and put on more muscle, being at 5% bf now I will probably increase to 6 or so and still be very lean . My goal was to drop weight quickly and build from there.

I haven't been below 200 since probably about 1990. I look back at pictures of me then and I was so skinny. I'll admit I have much better muscle development now than I did then but still I'm just unsure how it will look. It was a bit of a mental block to push myself to hit below 220 but here I am at 210. I guess I can always gain it back. That's easy enough.

I suppose I'll shoot for around 200 and see what that does. Like you said I don't really have a specific weight in mind but hitting under 200 just sounds odd. Why not right? Might as well go for it and see what I can do before summer is over. This will be easier to do this next year. I don't think I'll ever get back over 220. I didn't realize how much extra I had till I dropped the weight. You get used to the size and I guess the fear is that you'll be seen as just some skinny looking skater kid or something.

    5'7", 158lbs. I lose weight on 2000-2500 cals/day

1400 for a grown man sounds very odd to me. Probably miscounting.

Skinny skater kid!! Ha. I know exactly how you feel, but as you drop the weight and get more defined you'll like what you see. Sure I lost some muscle, but I'm still putting up good numbers at the gym. I haven't lost strength in a lot of the exercises I do.

    Good luck!
