I remember MTV coming on the air.

When most TVs were black and white.

    When Star Trek first aired.

That Michelle and Help Me, Rhonda came out in the first year.

    Party lines.

When doors were left unlocked and you could count on the neighbours keeping you to the same rules your parents did, and telling them when you 'acted up'

    Record players that played 45, 33 1/3 and 78

    I remember when:

you had to call your parents using a pay phone

the first time My Little Ponies came out

    Rainbow Bright and Strawberry Shortcake

Metal lunchboxes with matching thermos -- and you could beat anything with those things and they would maintain their shape!

Fashion Plates (Oh how I loved mine!)

    Scrunchies

LA Gear hightops with 3 different color laces

When Kirk Cameron was the teen star to post on your wall

    And oh...so much more...lol

I remember playing dodge ball, red rover, ghost in the graveyard and swinging statues. Basically playing outside. I remember playing pinball and tetherball. Then pong came along. After that everything changed. I remember our first color TV.It still only had 4 channels and no remote. I remember saying the Pledge of Allegiance but not prayers.

My high school actually had a smoking section. That seems absurd now.

    Okay, how about:

    Hopalong Cassady
    Sky King
    Cisco Kid
Of course, the Lone Ranger, with Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels (the original)
    Topper
    Cannon
    Mike Hammer
    Hostess Cupcakes at 5c
Twinkies were the same, then they outrageously raised the price to 12c!
Watching the TV sign off at around midnight with the National Anthem, and the flag
"Test Pattern" if you got up too early on Saturday to watch the above shows

The list goes on and on... How about Vinyl Records? 45's? the little thingy you had to put in the oversize hole!?

1 FM station on your 12 transister radio?

I remeber when a kid could buy cigarettes and beer from a grocery store or liquor store with a note from a parent.

I remeber my step sisters just having to have jordache jeans nothing else would do.
  • I remember...

    *Not wearing seatbelts

*watching re-runs of Gilligan's Island in the morning before school

*when we got our first microwave... it was HUGE

*being my dad's own personal remote control and having only 12 channels, 2-13

    *Atari

    *NEON colors

    *bangle bracelets

*when Aqua Net (or Rave) was a necessity

    *twist a bead neclaces

*Friday nights meant cruising downtown, going around the town square, around Sonic, down to the Kroger parking lot, yelling at the cute guys... and doing it all over again.. and again... and again... LOL (SMALL town life)

*going outside from dusk til dawn

*riding my bicycle all over town

*Bon Jovi, Poison, White Snake, Ratt, Nelson, Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, White Lion, Def Leppard...

I had forgotten about candy cigarettes! Now there's a blast from the past.

l remember my mom making my watch JFK's funeral, in real time. I also remember the moon landing in real time, too.

I remember the Wizard of Oz being aired once a year (and what a big deal that was!!)

I remember when hand-held calculators were first marketed, and how AMAZING it was that it could do a complicated division problem instantly!!

We didn't even have to have a note. We could buy all the cigarettes we wanted... and stick around the local convenient store to play video games and smoke... when we were 13... I'll never forget the day my mama caught me with a pack of cigarettes. She made me take them back to the store. I was so embarrassed.
  • I remember when J.R. was shot!

    And Bobby died...

But the next season... he was taking a shower... all a dream!

    LOL

My mom LOVED Dallas and Knots Landing!
