Strength training = no calorie burn?

So why does My Fitness Pal register Strength training in the diary without counting calories burned during the effort? All fitness training burns calories no matter how slight even if you are attempting to gain muscle mass. I couldn't find a comparate description in Cardiovascular exercises to account for what might be achieved in the gym.
Any ideas for could be added to the diary instead?

Great question, I often wonder this myself. I have asked before but someone said you probably don't burn many calories doing weights so no point logging it and your heart rate isn't up high enough to count as cardio training.0 -
I always choose card 6 minute mile run when I have done weight training. Fitness Pal gives a reason why they don't calculate the calories in FAQ's.0

I wear my HRM and track the calories that way when I lift then enter it as my own activity.0

The amount of calories you burn weight lifting depends on your weight, the intensity of your weight training, and the duration (and your age, to some extent, but this is less important.)
A 180 lb male performing 60 minutes of weight training with vigorous effort (meaning little or no rest periods between sets) and at an intensity that causes your heart rate to remain somewhat elevated during exercise would burn approximately 400-475 calories weight lifting.
If you tend to take long rests between sets and your intensity is lower, the same person can expect to burn around 250 calories weight lifting for one hour.
If you use this calculator you can put in your weight and activity and it will give you an estimate of how much calories you burned
