C25K - anyone doing it or have done it?

I am on week 5 of the Couch to 5K running plan. It is AWESOME!!! I can't believe how far I've come in 5 weeks. I was wondering if anyone has done it or in the middle right now?

Did it early spring last year and have done several 5Ks (actually just one today), a 10K, a half marathon and training for my second half. Placed 2nd in my age group today! Great program!

I will start week 3 tomorrow, and I am HOOKED! I absolutely love the freedom of running outside. I have my sights set on my first 5K on Thanksgiving Day.

I'm trying this. I printed out the info from the website this week. I don't know if I should do that or do what I was doing, which is walk 2-3 laps (1/4 mile each lap) then jog one, then walk etc. The C25K seems to be a lot to remember so I'm thinking I should just wing it. Not sure what might be better.

    Finishing week 8 today. :drinker:
  • I finished the program in early July and ran my first 5k on July 22nd. It's such an awesome program. I first started the program because running was always such a challenge to me and something I just couldn't do. I set out to conquer something I never thought I could do and now I'm doing it. The funny thing that I never thought would happen is that I now LOVE running. It's become such a passion of mine now and something that completes me.

I am a grad and have done 2 5K's this year. Props for getting as far as you have. You will be amazed at what you thought you couldn't do. Even if 5K's are not your goal, I feel its still worth doing one. One, you get a new tshirt lol, and two that is your C25K graduation present to yourself. Keep up the good work!

if you have an iphone or such you can download a free app that will tell you when to walk/run

C25K is an amazing program, I used it myself before transitioning to Hal Higdon for more distance. I recommend it to anyone who wants to get started running!

I started it in early July to shake up my cardio routine. I'm working towards my first 5k at the end of September. Week 7 Day 2 tomorrow!

I'm on Week 3, Day 3. Really enjoying it.

The issue I'm having is that when I use the treadmill, I have a really consistent speed and stamina, but when running outside, I don't push myself nearly as hard, even though it's not intentional. I usually run/walk for an additional 15 minutes on the treadmill and get to the 5k mark, but outside I usually only get to about 2.25 in 30 minutes, and feel wiped.

I will finish week 8 tomorrow and I'm planning on registering for the Komen 5k Oct 21. I never thought I'd be able to run but I am doing it...slowly but still getting it done.

I did try running on a treadmill the other day to avoid running so early in the dark but it felt horrible. I'm just not sure how people run on a treadmill comfortably but I'd love to learn the trick so I can stop worrying about getting killed so early in the morning or tripping and falling in the dark.

Completed Week 2 today. I'm doing more of a jog than run, but that is better than warming the couch !!!!
  • i'm a BIG BOY who is trying to have a healthier lifestyle ... I want to run ... I want to BE a runner!! I want to love it and crave it, like I crave that bag of Doritos!! I have recently started C25K, and so far, so good. I actually really, REALLY like it!! And so far, I have been successful.
