Been on and off for a while, now here for GOOD!

Hey all! I've been using the app on and off for about 6 months now, but I never got on the actual website until today and I love it! Having friends on here truly does motivate me more since they can see my progress. Do any of you have any tips or things that you have done that have helped you make better choices with food? Any advice here is appreciated. Have a great day!

Tips...not sure if they will help you but hear are a few things I do to help me along and NOT GIVE UP!
1.Everytime I feel like "this is going to take forever, I have so much to lose it will never happen", I go on this site and totally stalk the success stories. I try to find people that were obese like me (220 lbs) and have lost 70-90 lbs (like I want to), so then it shows me it IS possible, and I have to start now if I ever want that too.
    2. Have measuring cups with you! I know it sounds silly, but seriously I started carrying around a teaspoon and a tablespoon in my purse. Little things like mayo, coffee creamer and stuff like that add up. I was thinking "Oh this is about 3 tablespoons of creamer, barely anything..." Well I was wrong, when I started carrying around the measuring devices(lol) in my purse I ad no excuse, I would measure out my creamer or what ever it was (mayo, dressing, stuff like that) whereever I went, and noticed I was using probably double than what I thought, a eye opener! So now I am to the T with my logging.
    3. I know its hard, but DO NOT GO OUT TO EAT! Yes I know once every few weeks you cant avoid it because of a family get together or whatever. But justr stick to every once in a GREAT while, you cant measure how much butter or whatever they use, you can only be sure when you make it yourself.
    4. If you have trouble with portion control (as I do) buy things prepackaged to start til you get used to the correct portion sizes and are comfortable with it. Like lean cuisinces, or cans of soup or whatever. Good luck!

Thanks! My problem isn't that I eat badly or anything, it's my portion sizes. I eat pretty clean and don't eat many sweets and fried things. My biggest problems are: pasta and rice-I could eat riceor pasta everyday all day for the rest of my life. JUICE-I don't drink soda at all it's just juice and water, but I am a juice fiend. I probably have 6 different types of juice in my refrigerator at one time(luckily my husband bought me a juicer for mothers day so ive been drinking fresh juice more often and mostly using vegetables). I was always taught to clean my plate when I was young, and so now I'm stuck in this mentality that I should eat everything on my plate even when that full feeling hits. But I'm getting better at it. I know it will take a whole to be fully adjusted. But yeah, mainly my biggest problem is probably my carb intake that I should cut down on. And of course, I need to step it up with my workouts. I exercise about 3 times a week, but I would love to make time to do it everyday.

I've found if you're a person to need a full plate of food, as well as being a person who must empty their plate that using a much smaller plate works. Am finding it much easier to deal with portion sizes that way because I still find it difficult to leave uneaten food. Either that, or portion the meal up and leave for leftovers.

One thing that has helped me with portion control is a smaller plate! Takes less to fill up the smaller plates....~S~

My biggest tip- Don't starve yourself!!!!! There is no reason to and its only counter-productive.

I prelog my meals every day so I know how much of what I can eat. It helps with portion control and planning meals - if you've entered breakfast and lunch and realize you only have enough carbs left for a half cup of rice at dinner, you have time to figure out where you'll get the rest of your calories from so you don't overeat the wrong things.

Also, if you haven't already, customize your settings - 15% protein is way too low, change it to 20-30%!
