Wow, I was just craving pizza this weekend! I think this would be a totally better way because I can have fun with the kids and not feel guilty about eating it. I think I'll add some chicken, turkey pepperoni or even shrimp (I love seafood pizza).
Thanks for this post, very helpful :-)0 -
I like pizza too. I sometimes do the Fat Smash Diet- pizza
Crust: 1/5 can chickpeas, 1 cup dry oatmeal, 1 egg, tsp olive oil and your favorite fresh herbs and crushed red pepper. Mix all ingredients in a food processor add just a bit of water to loosen the ingredients but maintain doughy consistency. Spread onto a pizza pan (about 10-12 inches around) Bake at 400 deg F until crust looks 'cracked'.
Toppings: Lay fresh sliced tomatoes across the crust. This will serve as your sauce. I then top it with onions, peppers( red, orange, yellow), mushrooms, broccoli, asparagus, and mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle more herbs and a bit of salt, if you are not watching your sodium. Bake for about 10 minutes or until veggies are tender. YUM!
Serves 2 at 392 calories per person.
Though I have to admit, using a tortilla would save a lot of time. Thanks for the suggestion.0 -

I have alot of weight to lose. :blushing: I have been on the sidle lilnes for four years now due to lupus/rhuematoid arthritis/and epilepsy. I could not figure out a way to get this weight off. Glad that I could be of some help I'm pretty new here myself but I have been using this trick for awhile after my mom was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Had to find healthier ways for us to eat. She has lost 65 lbs and now I am finally getting my butt in gear 100% too. *high five* Best of luck to you in your journey!0 -

I have started making my own pizza as well....never thought to use the tortillas. I use a pita instead. Pretty much the same ingredients minus the mushrooms. If i want a lil meat i use a tablespoon of chopped bacon ( 25 calories). Try it with the pita sometime. Yours looks soo yummy
I just made these on whole wheat english muffins. Yum0 -
omg I just made this with a wheat and rye tortilla, bacon, chicken, mushroom, onion and bbq sauce.
Holy moley.
CANNOT STOP EATING.
Mine came in at 405 and I've got a big salad to go with it.
I WILL EAT THESE A MILLION TIMES A WEEK!!! YUMMEH!0 -

I am going to try it too!
I personally am not a big fan of lighter tortillas. The Weight Watchers ones are so revolting and sticky and aren't even a lot lower than normal ones.
What I do love though are the Warburtons Square Wraps. I don't know if our friends over the Atlantic Pond would get them over there but they are a lovely big square wrap, they have bits that are almost burnt coloured in places, are not at all floury or doughy. They about 160 cals in each but they are really really worth the extra cals because they taste so nice and are quite thick and so therefore really filling.
I am going to try that later for my evening meal with some cut up sandwich slices of Turkey cut up and put on top.
Thanks for that lovely recipe and idea!!!0 -

I do pretty much the same thing but instead of tortillas I use whole wheat pita bread and to cut down on the sodium I use no salt added tomato sauce and sprinkle it with oregano. Very good with spinach and feta0
