I absolutely hate to run, but I know I need to do it in order to meet my fitness goals. I did the 'couch to 5K' program, but can really only do about 2 miles. I need to stay motivated and push through the pain. Any advice/tips from runners our there?

Running is overcoming the head game (I think), and it is about being consistent and getting out there and just doing it. I am a little concerned about 'push through the pain', what kind of pain are you referring to?I absolutely hate to run, but I know I need to do it in order to meet my fitness goals. Why do you "have" to? I never understood why people do things they hate to do.0 -
Thanks guys! As for the "pain", it's more like side aches and that sort of thing. It's not excrutiating, but it seems that once I feel a twinge I just get up. And for the reson I do it, one of my personal fitness goals is to run a 5K. I have a problem with setting goals and then not completing them, so for me it will be such a huge deal to finish a 5K without walking.0

Why set a goal to do something that you hate to do? Isn't there any other form of exercise that is enjoyable to you? Tennis, maybe? Riding a bike? Hopscotch? I don't know how to cause you to enjoy something that you hate. I think you won't stick to it if you hate it, unless you just like to torture yourself. :ohwell:0
