Hurt my neck sleeping last night. Hard to turn my neck in one direction. Don't think I want to run on it...I can't make up my mind. Should I rest and go tomorrow or tough it out?

Maybe just do some lighter exercise, brisk walk perhaps? Or if it is really hurting just lay down & have a off day!0

Better to rest and not aggravate your injury further. Just be careful about what you eat so you can stay on course with your calorie intake goals, but if you eat well, you can offset some of the effect of going to the gym (e.g., burning additional calories)0

Rest, heat, painkillers & then gently start moving it but gym would be silly!0

if it hurts it's probably better to rest.0

you look in great shape from your photos im sure you can rest from the gym a day or two:)0

Crick in the neck definitely would not put a damper on my workout. Getting those muscles warmed up might help!0

Hey,
You have Torticollis more than likely. Basically muscle spasm in neck. You can massage area, use heat or ice (depends which feels better). Take ibuprofen, if you can, around the clock to relieve muscle swelling. Usually is from poor positioning when your sleeping. If it doesn't get better in a day or two, then go to doctor. I would not exercise until it doesn't hurt any more. It can get so bad that you will not be able to pick up head.0 -
Rest, its better safe than sorry when it comes to exercise and the gym where you maybe tempted to push yourself a little harder.0

flip a coin ... heads you go ... tails you don't ...0

How hurt can your neck be from sleeping on it wrong? Sounds like you should be out and about moving around. Unless you are seriously hurt... go to a specialists... otherwise best thing to do is work it out.0

Maybe some easy stretching?0

You run on your neck? Go to the gym...and take a video!0

I've had this happen to me many times from poor sleeping position & slouching problems. I have a desk job and sitting usually makes it worse. Unless it is really really painful I still go to the gym. Running, walking, lifting weights (as long as it does not use muscles in my upper back/neck/shoulders) are all fine and actually help me because they stretch my spine. If the pain is bad try some icyhot on the neck area even though it does not seem like a muscle problem. Your muscles are overcompensating for your spine and are swelled up putting pressure on your nerves. If you can get biofreeze, it is even better but I think you can only get that from a chiropractor or physical therapist. I've been going to a chiropractor for the last year or so and it has made a huge difference.0

I am not a doctor, but you probably didn't do anything serious. Take a Motrin and get in the gym! If you put off exercise anytime you tweak something...you might be better off not lifting at all. Besides, why come on here to validate your own excuses. Don't want to exercise, then don't. Do not want to sound like a jerk, but this site is full of excuses to take the easy way out.0

Depends on how bad you consider the pain to be,we can't gauge how you feel via the internet. If you happen to take a day off, that's cool. Don't stress over it though.0
