Breast Implants

Options
My fitness goal for losing my desired 22 pounds is to get breast implants once I reach my goal weight. My husband doesn't want me to have them, but I am a 34B and I feel like if I am doing it for the right reasons then why not? I am thinking of a large C cup. Do you think this is a bad weight loss motivator to have? I have always wanted them and I'm 25 now, I think I am able to make this decision rationally at this point in my life. Thoughts?

I would never do it personaly because you are garanteed to need to have more then 1 surgary, there is like a 52% chance of complications, either they turn hard, bust, your body rejects it, and they have to be replaces every 10 years or something like that, I seen a guy of TV awhile back that does breast implants, and he advised against women getting them, so ya, Ill stick to a good bra, Im also a 34B but if thats what you realy want, then go for it.

I have them, and honestly it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I absolutely love mine and they look very natural.

I am a year away from my BSN degree so the complications are what truly freaks me out. More so than that my major downfall for getting them would be the required upkeep surgery every 10 years. Yet, then a lot of my friends say it is worth it all and they would do it all over again. I am torn.

I am glad they turned out how you wanted. I think I seriously need them for a confidence boost. I have low self esteem when it comes to my body. I am hoping they would make me feel better about myself and confident! Thanks for the input!

My advice to you, if you're even considering getting them done go talk to a doctor. They'll have more information for you on details and all. I live in MD (not sure where you're located) and my doctor was awesome. I would also check out different surgeons before and after photos so you can choose the right doctor for you. Generally good surgeons will not push you into scheduling your surgery that day and will just be open and honest with you about risks and such. Good luck to you!

Complications aren't even what scares me, but just simple recuperation! Ouch!

As a girl who has large breasts (I'm currently a 32E), I can't honestly say that I've even ever considered them, but some perspective from this side... I know a C cup isn't LARGE, but it will change the way your clothes fit and change your options in bras and swimwear. They will change the way you exercise (I never even considered running until very recently, and now only with a very, very supportive bra. Oh, and my golf swing--it's a bit strange because have to make adjustments for my chest).

Finally, I don't know your life plan or anything like that, but you are still pretty young... Breast implants will affect whether or not you can breastfeed if/when you decide to have children. Also, pregnancy/childbirth/breastfeeding change your body in ways you cannot even fathom. If you do plan on having kids, you may want to save your surgery until after that.

I cant understand why women want bigger breasts. 34B is a perfect size, you should enjoy them! No back problems and there are men like me who love small breasts! Since your husband doesnt want you to have implants, that means he like small breasts too so be happy with them! :P

Speaking from experience, I did not get mine to please a man. I could careless what anyone else thought about it... I got them because that's what I wanted for ME. My boyfriend at the time, now my fiance, did not think I needed them but he supported me in the decision. I actually have no back problems associate with mine and they are 34D depending on the store 34DD.

I guess I should, which is why I am still debating it. I know my husband loves me the way I am and I am lucky he does. Looking at the media it seems like every woman who is considored sexy has huge breasts! I want to feel sexy too!

Just do your research. My father is a plastic surgeon and he spends as much time fixing other doc's botched jobs as he does performing original operations. (exaggerating, of course, but you get my point). Make absolutely sure your surgeon is Board certified (check http://www.plasticsurgery.org/) and talk to people who have had work done by that surgeon.
Good luck! With the right surgeon you are going to be very happy with your new look.

I do not have kids yet, which I fully consider being a good reason to wait. I would like to breast feed in the future, but I have one year of my Bachelor's left and then I plan on getting my Master's before I have kids. I will be at least 30 when I have children, with that in mind, I feel like if I do not get implants now I won't even be able to enjoy them in my twenties!

Big boobs aren't all they're cracked up to be. I have a hard time wearing cute shirts, dresses with formed tops, bathing suit tops, etc. As long as you're aware of things like that then do what you need to do to make yourself happy.

A friend of mine just had both breasts removed due to cancer. She tried implants and twice her body rejected them. She is staying "as is" for now and will re-look at it in a year. Talk to your doctor....get all the pros and cons. Another friend got them then a year later had them removed...still not sure why!

    What if they don't?

Personally I think each to their own, but I don't think you should get them to 'fix' other issues other than wanting larger breasts.

Thanks for all the advice ladies. I really appreciate it. It gives me something to think about. I am definitely not jumping into it, I have been researching and debating a few years now.

You're still young, your breast may get bigger with kids and age. I was a barely B and then found myself sporting D cups after the kiddos. I've lost 40lbs and they are still a C now. Personally I wouldn't go through major surgery for boobies. Sexy can come in all sizes.

This is very true. Be ready to make friends with someone who can alter your tops because finding some that fit may be difficult.

I spent a very long time striving for what the media told me was what I was supposed to look like. It's a fallacy. Big breasts on small women look ridiculous and I don't care what anyone says, they look fake.

I'm 5'4" and a 34B. I think my proportions are beautiful and I can easily find clothes that fit. Having breastfed 2 children I do wish I could lift my breasts a bit, but most lifts take out so much tissue that I would need implants, which I am not willing to do.

I most certainly am not against surgery though. I have had a modified tummy tuck to remove my "widow's apron" and I have a silicone chin to correct my undersized lower jaw.

Go for it!! Just beware, you can't say, "Oh, I want a large C cup" because that means NOTHING. I'm telling you. I said, "I want a small D". The week before surgery my boyfriend and I decided to go for a large D. Might as well, since I'm paying thousands for them, better make it worth it, right? So I told my Dr about the size change as he was marking me up before surgery. He was thrilled with the idea. So he said that instead of going for 400cc's we'll do 480. I realized after the surgery that I had made a mistake. Because I had huge pornstar boobs! Granted, I was still swollen but they were HUGE! I cried....a lot. This is not what I wanted, not at all. I never wanted to be the chick with the huge boobs. But that's what I am. I'm known for them. Ugh. So here I am, 1 year 4 months post op, wearing a 34 DDD bra. Don't get me wrong. This is an improvement from the 34A I used to wear. But it's too much for me.

So please, do your homework on how many CC's you want. Bra size means nothing.

If breast implants are going to make you happy and give you self esteem then do it!

Now it is not bad motivation because it is mine! My bf told me once I hit my goal weight he will buy them for me. I know a lot of women that have them and never had any complications and wouldnt change their decision on getting them.
