Breast Implants

It would depend on your body type.0

You can buy bras that make you look up to 2 cup sizes larger - why not just do that if you feel a bit insecure? Saves a heck of a lot of money and pain.0

I am a year away from my BSN degree so the complications are what truly freaks me out. More so than that my major downfall for getting them would be the required upkeep surgery every 10 years. Yet, then a lot of my friends say it is worth it all and they would do it all over again. I am torn.
What upkeep? Unless you are thinking of having babies, then you should wait until after you are done having children. If you get your implants at a time when you body won't be changing much again, there should be no need for upkeep. I have the Mentor cohesive gel (gummy bear) textured silicone implants and they carry a 25 year warranty. I've had them for 9 years, and don't know why I would want to get another surgery at this point for "upkeep." They look and feel great, still.
They are "overs" which helps with the natural appearance.
1. Shop around and make consultations with 2-3 doctors before you go under the knife. I actually went with the 2nd doctor I visited because he was not only better qualified by professional organizations, but he was willing to use silicone before it was available on the open market again.
2. Listen to what your doctor tells you, and follow his/her instructions.
3. Don't go in with a cup size/ number that you want to be. Implants don't work like that. There are so many variables to think about, such as the shape of your rib cage, how your pectoral muscles are developed, whether or not there is some asymmetry between the sides, ect. Instead have a photo(s) of how you want your figure to look post-op.
4. Then be prepared for all the condescending attitudes from family and coworkers after you have them done. It's crazy what people feel they can get away with saying because you did something for yourself to feel more beautiful. No one is judgy about getting braces on your teeth for cosmetic reasons, but for some reason it is okay to criticize cosmetic techniques on the body.0 -
Personally I am a fan of small breast. I dont think its anything wrong with getting them but If you look good the way you are then keep yours. What happens if you get them and no longer happy with them? Then you are just left with a scar0

This is my main reward for reaching goal as well.0

I am a 34B and after nursing two babies, they're not perky. While nursing my older daughter, I was an E cup. At the time it didn't seem that big to me, but looking back at pictures, my boobs were wider than my chest. It looked strange (to me, on me), even though I'm tall so I could support a larger bust. While nursing my younger daughter, I was a D cup and I think that looked more natural on my frame. But I couldn't wear any of my bathing suits without feeling like I was about to pop out, and DH even said it was way too much cleavage. I couldn't wear half my wardrobe because the big boobs made my clothes indecent.
I'm happy and secure now with my breast size. I've been on the flip side, and it wasn't all it's cracked up to be. Plus I have a husband and two small children, so the potential complications affect much more than just me. I'm also the type of person who won't take tylenol unless I really need it, so it's natural that I would shy away from major surgery that's not medically necessary.
Part of my goal is to develop the muscles in my chest some to see if it helps perk up what I do have. And I'm going to spend some money on some really good bras.0 -

I have like 5 of these bra's from Victoria Secret. The "Bombshell bras" believe me they are not all they are cracked up to be. I want the real things. Bra's only work when you have clothes on!0 -
I have them, and honestly it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I absolutely love mine and they look very natural.
I am glad they turned out how you wanted. I think I seriously need them for a confidence boost. I have low self esteem when it comes to my body. I am hoping they would make me feel better about myself and confident! Thanks for the input!
Um, no offense, but that really doesn't sound like "for the right reasons". Boobs won't fix your self confidence issues. Only you can do that.0 -
WOO HOO!!! I'm happy I'm not the only one..
30 pounds to go and I will get to buy my new Funbags.0 -
i don't think so. i have about the same amount to lose and i told my husband that's what i wanted when i lost my weight! i say go for it0

From a guys point of view, bigger isn't alway better when it comes to breasts. It all comes down to > YOU have to be happy with what you have. If your doing it to make someone else happy, who's to say they will be still be happy in a few years or will they want more? Make yourself happy, not someone else!!!!!!!0

Having big boobs won't make you sexy. Sexy is all about an attitude, it's in your demeaner. I wanted a boob job when I was in my 20's and so glad I didn't I'm a hot mama who's athletic, a great attitude and people love being around me.
Don't cheapen yourself with buying big boobs. Make the ones that God gave you work for you.0 -
I cant understand why women want bigger breasts. 34B is a perfect size, you should enjoy them! No back problems and there are men like me who love small breasts! Since your husband doesnt want you to have implants, that means he like small breasts too so be happy with them! :P
I guess I should, which is why I am still debating it. I know my husband loves me the way I am and I am lucky he does. Looking at the media it seems like every woman who is considored sexy has huge breasts! I want to feel sexy too!
You are so right about the media and many stars getting implants. You have to make that decsision for yourself. There also very natural breasted Actresses and they are beautiful and I hope they never get implants. Kate Hudson, Gorgeus does not need implants and she is beautiful. Zoe Saldana, Michelle Pffeifer, Lucy Liu. There are so many, its just that its easier to see the big breast, wether real or not.
I have vey small breasts, I do not think I ever want bigger breasts, I actually enjoy my small ones, but I know many people who want bigger ones, or shapely ones. I also know a friedn who got them reduced to a very small size, said she felt uncomfortable exercising with them
Think it over and its so awesome that your man does lets you know you do not need them.
Natalie Portman, Kiera Knightly, Mila Kunis ...
I think you can and should feel sexy with small breasts. Once you are comfortable and confident with yourself, if you still want big boobs, go for it. Boobs are beautiful and fun, so I can see the appeal of getting them, but they don't make you sexy. Sexy comes from within.0 -
I would never do it personaly because you are garanteed to need to have more then 1 surgary, there is like a 52% chance of complications, either they turn hard, bust, your body rejects it, and they have to be replaces every 10 years or something like that, I seen a guy of TV awhile back that does breast implants, and he advised against women getting them, so ya, Ill stick to a good bra, Im also a 34B but if thats what you realy want, then go for it.
I'm sorry but your information is wrong. It is one thing to state an opinion, but this crosses the line.
If you want implants, do your research, take time to find the right doctor and consider all outcomes and risks. Don't pick the cheapeast doctor!
I will be getting breast implants next year. All through my teen years I didn't like my cup size, and two pregnancies has not only reduced my overall size, but also changed the shape of them. Rather than just being small, they look like deflated baloons! I am looking forward to having the surgery so I can feel more confident as a woman, rather than just a mom with a ravaged body...0 -
If it's what you want - go for it!! I've had mine for seven years and LOVE them. The surgery was not bad, neither was my recovery (and I am very active). Best investment I ever made Like other's said - do your research and find the best doctor you can!! Best of luck!0

wow! i'm reading these responses about tops not fitting and i'm shocked! unless you are planning on getting porn star sized breasts (which i don't think you're doing), tops will fit fine - even better. i got my 1st (yes, i said 1st) surgery when i was 20 years old and a size 34A. i became a 36C and have since had 2 children, gained about 40lbs and recently lost 40lbs. i chose to have a 2nd surgery 15 years after the 1st because i wanted to go a little bigger. i am now a 34D and LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT! i used the same doctor for both surgeries and have had no complications (knocking on wood).
my advice is to take pictures with you to the doctor (there are tons of websites full of breast surgery pics - all shapes and sizes), reach your goal weight 1st and follow docs orders.
and yes, i did breastfeed both of my children!
good luck to you!!!0 -
I've wanted a BA since I was 18.. I looked down at my barely 34As and said.. "that's it?!?" As I gained, they got bigger (slightly) as I lost, they got smaller..
When I made the decision to get them, my (then) boyfriend (now fiance) and I had been together almost 2 years.. obviously he wasn't into me for my boobs.. He was very supportive and extremely helpful in my recovery process which took about 2 weeks.. ish..
I also went in thinking "small c/large D" ... Finally after doing months and months of research, I went into for a consult saying "I want to be proportional" I was thrilled with the results. 34 full D I am happier and more confident.. Please do your research and pick a good plastic surgeon..0 -

"don't cheapen yourself"? wow! really? i'm guessing you wear makeup, right? why not just wear the face God gave you?0 -

I do wear the face God gave me. I'm beautiful with or without make up. Did you not read the first part of my post? It's about the attitude. Sexiness comes from within.
It's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.0 -
I don't know anything about this topic, as I am a 42DDD at the moment (in Canada - I'm not sure if sizes are different in the States. Regardless, they're huge). That being said, I would definitely wait until you've had kids (or decided not to have them, as the case may be). Your body goes through so many changes with pregnancy and nursing - might as well wait until it's all over.
As for all of you big-boob haters - I recognize that some people have actual real health related problems with unnaturally large breasts, but I am not one of them. Sure, I can't buy button-up shirts, but I'm sure there are some kinds of clothing styles ALL of you can't wear (and look fasionable, anyways) because of your unique bodies. Sure I can't go for a run comfortably, but I'm sure there are activities ALL of you can't do because of your unique bodies.
OP, I think if you want them, go for it. It sounds like you have been working hard to lose weight, you are educated (or at least getting educated) about the topic, and you have a great support system. Sometimes people just need that little "extra" to be truely content in their own skin.0 -

BTW, I'm actually quite offended by that. If sexyness is an attitude, so is cheapness. A person is not "cheap" just because of her bust size...0 -
Big boobs aren't all they're cracked up to be. I have a hard time wearing cute shirts, dresses with formed tops, bathing suit tops, etc. As long as you're aware of things like that then do what you need to do to make yourself happy.
So much this. But I guess the grass is always greener on someone else's chest.0 -

No judgement here, I've always wanted implants myself. BUT in your case, I would respect your husbands wishes. He loves you the way you are, and I think it would take something away, in his eyes, if you had fake breasts. Like then he couldn't truly appreciate that part of you, because it's not really you in a way.0 -
My best friend got them after her mastectomy. She would never go back. She loves them and has had very few complications. One thing though-whenever she flies she has to be super careful. There's a pressure sleeve she has to wear on her arm to make sure they don't go bonkers. I don't know the ins and outs of it, but she has to wear it on the plane and for several days after at each end of the flight. This also applies when she travels to higher altitudes. So, know that in advance and ask your doc about it.
Personally, I know squat. I'm in the same boat as jilliew with plenty already and more. Do what you feel is right, hon. My best friend has 'em and I think she looks great.0 -
I'm thinking the best way to settle this is with before and after pictures!!!!0

I know this is a touch subject. So many people are against plastic surgery. I used to weigh 260 and when I was heavy i Had 42 G boobs. The thought of implats grossed me out. I know weigh 145 and my boobs went from a G cup to a DDD cup. Needless to say they are saggy. I went to surgeon and he said when he removes the saggy skin and gives me a lift I would be lucky to still be a B cup. Im getting my lift and implants in January! I say do your research and go for it if you want it for you!0

I know several people who have had breast implants and they look great, I am actually going to get some my self! But I am waiting until AFTER children.. Seeing how the first one wrecked my current boobs I don't want that to happen to my fake ones! I feel like if you want them then you should be able to get them.
I also feel tho that you should love yourself before you get your boobs, be confident in your own skin.. I am getting them because I'm am getting older and have had kids and now my once perky 34B's are droopy 36c's not nice! I want them back where they belong!
Just think about it a little longer... what is the real reason you want them, make sure once you have them that you will not find something else that you need to change....0
