Shin Splints. HELP!!

I've recently purchased a treadmill and rediscovered my love for race walking... especially on inclines. After spending 2 hours & 45 minutes on the thing in the past 3 days, I've also rediscovered shin splints.
Since it's been FOREVER since I've dealt with shin splints, I can't recall how to take care of them so they don't turn into stress fractures. Any suggestions? Please don't tell me to lay off the treadmill for a while. I've also rediscovered that I'm a closet endorphin junkie.

Im not sure how to make them feel better *cue pro's*, but I can recommend that you pick up some leg sleeves for your calf and shins. I use them and they work great. You can google them and they come in some great colours- or just throw a pair of knee high fun socks over top

Be sure you stretch your calves before and after also try massaging the muscles in the front and back of your legs. Be sure to stay hydrated and take rests0

I've just been to the doctors about my shin splints and am being referred to a podiatrist to get an insole to prevent them, i think the only way to get rid of them for good is to get proper help! Hope you're able to get them sorted, i know how much of a pain they are! xx0
