Exercise Motivation

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share a little bit of what helps motivate me to workout and hopefully some of you can find it helpful, too! Today, for example, I really did not want to work out. I almost didn't, but I decided to make a deal with myself and thought "OK, just get on that treadmill and even if all you do is walk, you can quit after half an hour. But just do that much, because it's better than nothing." Well, not only did I not stop, I ended up staying on the treadmill for an hour, running 3 miles and walking 2 miles at a brisk pace. My point is, usually, even if I really don't want to work out, if I can at least push myself just to get started, I realize it's not so bad. And I ended up burning over 400 calories that I wouldn't have if I had just decided to blow off my work out. So you can do it! Just get started and you'll realize you can do more than you thought and even if not, whatever you do is better than not doing anything at all!

Thanks for posting! That is what I have been telling myself everyday.. PUtting in some time is better than nothing and once you get going you end up doing more than what you planned.

lol I do that too when i dont get to workout in the morning.
  • I got back into exercising and watching what I eat because I decided (from my doctor's advice) to at least commit to 30 min. of exercise daily. I'm out of school for summer break currently and most of the summer I spent inside doing little to nothing because it was SO HOT outside. It started off as 30 min a day and now I'm doing a lot more because once I got going I kept going and picked up momentum - works on a daily basis, but long term also.

I make myself go all the time. Because if I listened to my own excuses I would never work out. I think of it almost like a job. Even if you don't want to go to work most people have to go. You just have to force yourself sometimes. And its been working for me so far. Once I get into my workout I push myself as hard as I can.
