August binge challenge!

  • I need to join this challenge, I managed to stop binging once and really need to be able to do it again.
I had August down as a totally hideous binge month, however having just looked back through my food diary, it was only actually three days that I have binged, so about once a week. This is still bad of course but not as disgusting as I thought.
So here we are so far -
    Binge days - 3
    Free days - 18
  • Hey everyone! I'm new to this...but I have been VERY guilty of bingeing these past few weeks =( I feel so terrible that I don't even log it into fitness pal. I'm really glad someone started a binge challenge though - I need to be held accountable!!
    So, as of today
Binge: (we're not going to try and count)
    good: 0

    So far in August:

    Winning: 21
Binge Monster: 2 (two days running on 7th and 8th)

When I lose control I lose it bad. In the middle of the binge this month I got up to use the bathroom at 5am, went downstairs and ate 3 bowls of oatmeal, 3 slices of toast and butter and drank a pint of milk. The day continued much in that vein… (estimate 5000 cal ish)

This usually happens to me about once a month, then I spend weeks “making up for it” by cutting extra cals. How about I just not binge then I can eat a little more on a day-to-day basis? Sounds like a plan!

I'm the same way, but this challenge has helped me tremendously for the past two months. I have binged only once this month, but it was not as bad as my binges used to be. I actually logged EVERYTHING I ate on that day and when the amnt. was reaching 3000 cals, I stopped eating. 3000 Cals is still a lot, I know. BUT when I did not log my binges, I could go on and eat and eat and eat till my stomach almost burst.

For the last month, I have allowed myself to eat about 100-200 cals more each day (except for that week of my binge). If I don't "screw up," I can continue to eat a little more each day. AND guess what? I have lost 1lbs! I wish you the best!

    No binge--19.5

binge--1.5 (8/3--the half was the unhealthy hangover day that my binge cost me)

    22.5

    1.5

I have also decided to never buy another microwave. It's a lot easier for me to keep myself from binge eating when I have to prepare my food on the stovetop or oven, instead of instant gratification that microwavable food provides.

Overeating at parties is my challenge. Meals I can handle because I just measure out my portions and stop there. Parties where appetizers and snack foods are out on a table over a five hour period is currently a challenge for my willpower.

I saved up some calories to use for my brother's birthday yesterday by eating a little less the previous few days. I'm happy to say that I stayed within my limit for his birthday, even though it was more than my usual allotment. So I'll not count it as a binge.

    No binge--27.5
    binge--1.5

AmaizenBlue44 -- Great job planning and staying within your limit for your brother's birthday!

Right when I thought I'd kicked that binge monster, he returned yesterday. So, I'm on for next month. Even if I go a couple weeks without binging... I will press on until I go at least a ,month of no binging. And, then 3 months will be my goal. I need to take control & keep it!

    Final august numbers:
    Powerful me - 28
    Binge Monster - 3

Very disappointed in myself this weekend. Yesterday I didn't log for the first time in months and went completely off the rails, emptying cupboards, eating everything in sight. Pretty ashamed.
  • My final tally...
Started on Aug. 3rd (if I remember correctly), finished on Aug. 31.

    Won : 20
(on or under my daily goal)

Binge Monster reared its ugly head, but I eventually "won" over it : 3
(went over my daily goal, but less than 500 calories)

Binge Monster kicked my tail : 5
(went over my daily goal by 500 or more)
  • FINAL TALLY:

    Powerless binge monster: 1
    Powerful me!!!: 27

Celebratory and totally conscious overeating at wedding celebrations: 3
Overeating that I will learn to manage: 1
