When I prepare my shake, it's whey protein isolate btw, the amount it makes up is a pint. Even when I mix only half a pint up it really REALLY makes me feel mega full. Is protein meant to make you feel totally stuffed?:noway:

That is one of the biggest benefits of protein for me - it really satiates me - and lasts longest......
Personally would not say a protein shake makes me feel "totally stuffed" though.... As I mostly drink them right after a workout my body just thanks me that I am feeding it ;-)

I like having a shake instead of breakfast as I find it hard to eat enough protein
  • I have a protein shake for breakfast most mornings for breakfast on the go and I'm seeing a difference in energy in the mornings!

You don't have to use the full serving of protein - you can use less..... and you don't have to use a lot of water...... My go-to shake is....

    1 scoop chocolate protein powder
    1tbsp cocoa powder
    1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
    1/4 cup canned pumpkin
    1/5 - 1/4 cup water
1-2 glucomannan (kojnac root) capsules (opened and powder poured into blender) -- this is a fiber that helps thicken the shake

Makes it so yummy and tasty.... doesn't make me feel overly full.

A lot of shakes use fillers because people are trying to use them as meal replacements. Watch out for ingredients like glucomannan. It is basically a fiber that absorbs water and expands to 2 or 3 times its size in your stomach. People take it to suppress hunger & help with dieting. If your protein shake contains this kind of filler, that could be what you are feeling. Some folks can be very sensitive to it. No, while I do find protein more satisfying, I do not usually feel full from drinking protein powder in water. Now, add fruits & fibers... That's breakfast. <g>
