Today I went to pick up my daughter up from Nursery and they asked me if I'm expecting again. I've lost almost 3 stone and was hoping that these sort of comments would stop.
I feel like hiding in my baggiest clothes and not leaving the house. I wont and will keep on going it just seems I've worked so hard and still get these comments.

Ugh...I just don't get why people don't understand that this is just not a question that you ask people. I have an acquaintance who is very obviously pregnant, but I still haven't said anything to her on the off chance that she has some odd health condition that would make her look pregnant! I can see how in the context of where you were that maybe they would think it's time for you to pop out another one so they can have a new "customer."0

ur doin fab!!! dont let them get to ya! :flowerforyou:0

Keep going! Don't lose heart! :flowerforyou:0

People are dumb. Hang in there.0

It was the other way round for me, I was so big that when I was pregnant people didnt ask either because they thought I was just fat or they couldnt tell.
You have lost soooo much already. Dont let this comment derail you. Use it to keep going and to reach your goal.0 -
I have had that happen before when I was bigger. It is really depressing, just try to remember you are doing all you can to change that and keep pushing on.0

*HUGS*
Tell these people, politely and firmly, that it is RUDE to ask questions like that! I'm sorry the people at your daughter's nursery school are rude and tactless but remember - you are getting healthier everyday and they just are mannerless imbeciles.0 -
Oooh girl Forget about their comment. If anything, you probably made them feel completely awkward about asking and being wrong. 3 stone is an amazing loss! Just keep your head high and stay focused! You're beautiful inside and out, and in no time you'll be at your halfway mark and then cruising on to your goal weight! Don't let others' stupid comments discourage you! Be strong )0

awww honey you don't know how many times i have been asked that one! even about 6 months ago after loosing 100lbs! i promise you keep on with the good work you are doing and people will start to notice you are losing weight sooner than you think x
:flowerforyou:0 -
Don't let them get to you xx Sounds like you are the same shape as me, the weight is falling off everywhere really well except my tummy, so it does stick out more :grumble:
It will go, we just have to keep at it xx0 -
My advice would be to focus on all the positives. If you lost that much weight. You probably breathe, sleep , and move around a lot better. Theose are your wins and they are more important than the words of people who are not apart of your journey.0

That is just plain mean. You should consider moving your daughter instead of having to subject yourself to catty and obnoxious people who treat you that way.0 -
try not to take it to heart to much, it could be something as innocent as your daughter giving them the impression that your expecting again, 41 lbs lost is a huge amount and you should be really proud of it. i do agree with mbcarren08 though it should be banned from asking people this question lol, and remember it could be worse...........when i had my last baby because i was so big nobody new i was pregnant and kept asking whos she was, when i told them she was mine they were shocked as they hadnt noticed any difference x0

Don't give up, you are doing great!
And those persons are either very rude, or very dumb, or both.0 -
I have learned NEVER to ask that question... you think most people would know this... I know it sucks but keep up the good work. You have lost so much already! I understand, I stay away from certain tops in my closet cause I feel like they may look like maternity clothes and I don't want to be mistaken for being pregers! Keep doing what you are doing and one day NO ONE will make that mistake again.0

3 stone is a lot! Don't lose hope.0
-
If only that person knew how far you've come. Keep going! While kickboxing, imagine that you're punching and kicking her stupid face.0
-
my bfs 6yo asks me almost every time we get her, if im having another baby or when im going to lose my belly...ive learned to just shake it off, granted its from a kid but it still hurts no matter who says it.0
-
I've never been asked if I was pregnant, but people have done that to my mom before and it really bugs her !
If someone asked me that I would be very annoyed too!...
I'm sorry , don't give up! Stay strong<30 -
You've done a great job! I never ask unless someone tells me or I see the baby coming out. Seriously. I've been asked before and it stinks! You never want to insult someone if they're not and you don't know their situation. That's awful. Hugs!0

You're doing great! Don't ever give up. Some people really shouldn't ever speak!!! :mad:0
-
...or I see the baby coming out.
By then...it's probably safe to ask! :laugh:0 -
Don't let it get to you! You are losing weight and you need to be proud of that! Keep doing what you're doing and you'll get there!
Obviously with my username on here, I used to look pregnant, I'm 51 years old and had a lot of people stare at me when I was out with my gray-haired husband. lol After 6 months on MFP, a lot of exercise, tweaking of my diet, etc., I have lost 40lbs and still have 15 to go but I'll get there in time. I'd say I look like I'm about 3 mths along now instead of 7. LOL
YOU CAN DO THIS! Don't give up! <hugs>0 -
I've gotten this question before too...I know how upsetting it is!! Just remember to stay positive and focus on how far you've come...you look great!!!0
-
I'm so sorry!! I am always afraid I'll get asked that question ... then again I have posture issues. It is one of those questions though, you just don't do it.0

Due to gaining weight and complications from surgery that left me with three huge abdominal hernias I got this comment for years! Even people far bigger than me would say that. In March, after having surgery, I forced myself to go out for a day with my mom. I had a clerk in a gift shop say 'Oh, you are about to drop!' Even after I explained that I am not pregnant, she kept on saying things like 'Oh, you look like you are, and carrying LOW, I bet you get that all the time though. Oh, are you sure you don't have a tumor, a friend of mine had ovarian cancer and her belly blew up like that before she died..' I felt like going home and never going out again. Don't let it get you down. You are doing great!0

Yeah it always pisses me off when someone asks me when I'm due :grumble: and it bothers me for awhile but you are doing amazing!!! Try to focus on that and yeah i agree they may just be looking for another pay day as they are a daycare
Note: The only time I don't mind is when I'm on the subway or bus and someone offers me their seat cuz they think I'm expecting, they don't ask if I'm pregnant but they ask if I would like to sit down (with other obese people on the bus not getting the offer I have to assume it's cuz they thing I'm preggers) - then I politely decline but I'm glad that people would be kind enough to do that for any woman and so it makes me smile :happy:0 -
Uugh! People are so rude! I am so sorry this happened to you. Ignore those comments and fight that urge to give up-you have lost over 40 pounds and should be super proud of that!! This happened to me shorlty after I had my 2nd child-the person who asked me was someone I felt comfortable asking 'why did you ask me that' and she told me it was the clothes that I was wearing. She said my top looke like one of those maternity tops. I gave that top away! Keep up the good work!!0
-
PEOPLE!!!!! Keep up the good work...people say some of the dumbest things when they are dumb!!!0
