your favorite recreational exercise?

i know this isn't hardcore fitness conversation, but curiosity gets the best of me.

what do you all like to do, more so for fun than just the physical benefit, exercise-wise?

my favorites are racquetball and ultimate frisbee

Soccer; I started running as a way to improve my fitness for soccer but found that I enjoy running just for the sake of running (the run is its own reward)

I love to hike! The further I can get away from civilization, the better. I love exploring new areas, seeing the wildlife, and smelling the fresh air.

I also like to mountain bike. Nothing insane, just a nice steady climb. I'm weak at it, but the small improvements I see each time I take a ride are what keep me going!

And walking... especially if it's in a neat city. I'll go all day.

ETA: How could I forget running??? That too...

Hiking and walking (somewhere pretty). Both are fun to me so it doesn't feel like exercise.

Spontaneous belching contests with my friends' twin two-year-old girls. Not making this up. It's a serious event in the kitchen after dinner.

Hiking! I live in an area surrounded by national forests, and I love to get outside and just hike and enjoy the quiet!

I've only done it once, but: Snowboarding. OMG that was AWESOME. Can't wait until I can actually afford to do it regularly.

That, and squash (nothing like whaling on a tiny rubber ball with all your might), and mountain biking. I pushed myself to my limits every time I went out. It was great, because my limits just kept getting more insane.

Indoor wall climbing without any ropes.

EDIT: Can be done outdoors on actual rocks/boulders, but I'm neither that proficient or brave yet!

Golf, definitely. I like to run, bike, walk, swim, etc, but I do those things with the intent to burn calories. I like to walk a golf course, pulling my clubs, and the burn is an added bonus.

We also went canoeing once this summer...that's one I'd like to do more. A great way to soak up the sun, enjoy the outdoors, spend time with my boyfriend, and as I found out the next day....an awesome arm workout. So sore.
