not losing weight regularly and consitently

erm I've been on this diet for about 4 months now, and have had a lot of success whilst following mfp. However for the past few weeks I've only lost a couple of pounds. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why this may be thanks :)

    You've lost 48lb in 4 months, that's amazing!

I have weeks where I don't lose at all and then weeks where I'll lose lots, it all evens out.

One thing to make sure of once you've 'settled into' a weight loss plan is that you're still diligently tracking and keeping an eye on portion sizes as it's easy to slip back into old habits.

Well done 4 stone is incredible!!
I sometimes think changing my food around helps. For example if i'm use to eating toast for lunch I would change it to eating ryvettas instead. Sometimes our bodies need a change to get them going again.
I have also been told with exercise to change it round. I 'use' to jog 2-3 miles a day. Nothing was happening. My auntie went to have a fitness test and they told her to juggle it up. One day go jogging another day brisk walking, cycling, swimming. etc, it worked for her.

I'm never going to go back to my old habits, I've come to far to mess it up now i think. I'm going to try vary what i eat. As for the exercise i do tend to mix it up quite often anyway, but i suppose i could try and do more. Thanks for the advice it's been really helpful!

Have you lost 48 lbs in those 4 months? If so, that's a huge amount. Well done! It's not going to keep coming off that fast. How many is "a few weeks"? If you're losing, say, 1lb a week now, that's a very reasonable rate of loss. If it's less than that, just try not to get too frustrated. Weight loss isn't linear, and there will be periods where it comes off more slowly.

Yeap around 4-5 months, im not sure exactly! I've lost 2lbs in the last 4 weeks. I'm just gonna stick at it for another couple weeks to see if it comes off a bit quicker, and if not i'll reduce my calories again. Thanks for the help!

If you reduced calories and your weight loss slowed, maybe you need to up your calories?

Another thought would be that you might need to change up your work outs. I found that really helped me out of my plateau.

I don't know how much you weigh now, but I've found it true that the thinner I get, the harder it is to lose weight. The first 30lbs were actually a lot easier to lose than this last 10lbs have been. The first month of my weight loss, I lost almost 13lbs, but now I'm down to about 2lbs a month. It sucks but at least it's still progress.

What is your sodium intake and potassium intake daily? As well, what are your fluids like that you drink?

oh ho ho, welcome to the wunnerful world of PLATEAU'S.

I use the weight times eight formula.
Clearly, you will decrease your caloric intake as you loose.

    Hit a plateau....time to recalculate.

Maintenance is weight times eight plus 200.

Doesn't work for me....I stay at weight times eight as I evidently have the thrifty gene.

    Good Luck.

    Hi

that maintenance formula puts me below my current deficit by a good 200 calories, so 700 calories less than maintenance for me. I think I'd stick with one of the more proven formulas.

I only reduced my calories by 100 so i dont think i would need to increase them. I'm going to try different exercises and see if that helps

I agree. I'm eating more than this maintenance formula now and I'm losing weight.

The less weight you have to lose the slower it will come off.

You've made great progress! Unfortunately the weight loss wont' be the same each and every week until you hit your goal. You just have to keep going at it and switching things up and you will reach your goal.

    Weight loss isn't linear!

You eat a lot of pizza, maybe its the sodium. Are you sure you are eating enough? You eat about as much as me, and I am a 5', 100lbs female.

This calculator is pretty accurate, its matches my Body Media Fit:

Shoot for 20% less than TDEE.
