Thinking of doing a one-time partial fast

I seldom fast. I should fast more for religious reasons, but I do not. I am thinking of doing a fast for the rest of the day. I need some advice. Here is a screen shot of my diary, and you can't see the 2 cups of water I have logged:
Also, this is the first time I have ever used the quick-add calories option. Normally I itemize everything, but I was/am in a hurry.
Advice? Thoughts? Oh, and yes, I will be drinking water in this partial fast.

I'm a bit confused.
It sounds to me like you are going to fast for the rest of the day for religious reasons. If so, my advice would be to not eat.
Physiologically you'll be fine.0 -
Typically when people fast for nutrition reasons, they will eat up to their calorie goal before or after the fasting period. This is just skipping dinner.0

I don't really see what purpose this will serve you, why you are considering doing it, and what opinions you think others are supposed to have.
Not trying to be harsh here, but it is your body and your diet. If it's what you want to do, then screw everyone else's opinion!0 -
My opinion?
Just try to eat less at each meal, and forget the fasting. Looking at your diary, lunch that is over 1000 calories would be a pretty big meal, or one that isn't too healthy for you. I suggest 3 meals at 300 - 600 calories each (give or take) and several snacks throughout the day. Snack that are high in protein and low in sugars/carbs.
Peaks (eating a lot) and valleys (fasting) aren't as good for overall health as several small meals and snacks throughout the day from what I've learned. If you feel like you've "overeaten" today, just try to do better tomorrow.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.0 -
I'm not sure that skipping dinner is the same as fasting....0

I have 1175 calories left on the day, hence the partial fast, as I call it.I don't really see what purpose this will serve you, why you are considering doing it, and what opinions you think others are supposed to have.

I am really just trying to make sure that a partial fast doesn't backfire on me for my weight loss goals. My opinion?

Thank you! Yes, my meals usually hover around 600 to 700 calories. I had a big lunch today, which spurred my thinking about a partial fast. Typically all my meals are about the same calorie count, Because of my lunch schedule today I was not able to do that.I'm not sure that skipping dinner is the same as fasting....
To not eat from 12:00 noon to 7:00 AM the next morning would be a 17 hour fast, would it not? You bring up a good point- how long must one fast to be considered in a fast?I'm a bit confused.

This is not for religious reason. Sorry if I wasn't clear.0 -
I fast 16-18 hours a day. It's easy once you live like that. Just need to find the timeframe that is best for you to stick to it.0

Maybe you'd have more willpower than me, but I'd be afraid a fast would turn into me eating a lot later at night when i decide I'm really hungry.0

At first I read this and thought, wow that's a long fast every day...but then I realized I guess I do they same. I try to go to bed hungry, so I wake up hungry. I try to have my last meal by 5 pm and if I don't eat again until 7, 8 or 9 the next day...I am fast for 14-17 hours too. Cool.0
