Help motivate me to lose weight.

I am constantly binging and then then dieting. I only have 10 pounds to lose. I suppose it boils down to the fact that I'm not motivated enough.

Can people help me with some reasons why I can convince myself to stay on track.

I think it all comes down to wanting it bad enough. I tried and failed numerous times but this last time I wanted it bad enough that I stuck with it. I'm not sure what to say to motivate you other than stating the obvious that you'll feel better afterwards, be healthier, possible gain confidence if you're lacking, and be in better shape if you choose to work-out. For myself, it was all worth it. Sure it was really hard in the beginning but the long term benefits were worth it.

It's just at times, the desire to eat pushes aside logical thought about all that, if only weight loss was more easily and immediately linked to over eating.
  • are you sure you are not looking great the way you are and adding weights if not already to do lots of toning get you the results
more I exercise the less junk I want to eat cause I do not want to ruin perfect burn
find your reasons, pic on fridge, look at success stories on mfp every time you wish to eat wrong LOL

It is easily, just not immediately.

If you want it you'll do it. If not, you won't. Not much we can do.
  • I took a pic and posted it on the fridge...everytime i saw it on there it motivated me.....ive lost 60 lbs.....just eat what you want but learn how to cook it more healthier it will keep you from straying....

Perhaps try eating every 2-3 hours to keep yourself full. I do this so I don't usually find myself hungry. Have lots of healthy snacks on hand.

Because I've not got much to lose, I can't get away with just eating healthily. I have to severely cut down and eat 1200 cals to just lose a pound a week. Thus is fine for a few days but then I just pug out as I feel deprived. I don't even enjoy what I'm eating.

First, yes you can. Losing weight is all about diet.

Second, with only 10lbs to lose, you shouldn't be trying to lose 1lb/week - your goals are unrealistic.

    THIS.

no one can motivate you into doing this. Once you decide that you want to do it, you will. Simple.

This is ridiculous. Are you going to stay on 1200 calories after you lose the 10lbs? Probably not.
Such strict intakes are just a set-up for failure. You can lose the 10lbs and still eat more than 1200 calories.

Have you figured out your TDEE/BMR? It sounds like your goal is very unrealistic. These calculations will give you a better idea as to what your body needs. Try switching up your workouts, try different foods, eat more, watch your sodium intake, etc.

That's what MFP says if I want to lose a pound a week. Do you think I should be aiming to lose less. Sounds weird but that's a revelation to me. Always reading about people losing so much more that I thought a pound was a tiny amount.

For someone who needs to lose 100lbs, then yes... they can lose more because it's still a very small % of their overall body weight.

For someone with so little to lose, 1lb a week is asking an awful lot. Yes, I would definite readjust your settings to lose only .5lbs per week. It'll take a more patience on your end, but will be more healthy and you'll have a better chance of sustaining it.

Thanks. I'll try that. Hopefully that will stop the starving/ binging cycle I always go through.

It'll probably help, but a lot of it is just getting into better eating habits, which is largely mental.

I agree with the picture motivation--I sometimes forget that I'm way heavy when I get hungry...if I remind myself...it seems to help. I guess it boils down to wanting to lose weight more than wanting to splurge.

I o generally like and eat healthy foods. Eating out is difficult as because I'm a vegie, I get little choice and most options have loads of cheeses. I think it's when I'm tired, I just pig out. Hopefully by allowing myself those extra calories, I won't do that.

I've heard of people putting their scale or a full-length mirror in their kitchen.

One thing that has made a HUGE difference for me is exercise! Running, doing JMBR, it all makes me feel good after I'm done (and that helps motivate me to do it!). Also having the extra exercise calories to eat a little more than I'd be able to if I were not exercising makes a difference, knowing I CAN eat and not starve on the 1200 calories MFP says I should have. It all comes down to you wanting to do it for yourself.......I have days where I eat a little more than I should, and then the scale lets me know it, which makes me get my butt back on track.

Also exercise. Exercise lets you eat more calories and still maintain a deficit. A combination of 30 minutes or so of cardio three days a week, and weights two or three days a week will also help build some muscles and probably improve how you look, regardless of your weight. You might even find that you don't need to lose ten pounds, just get a better weight distribution.
