Buttermilk garlic dressing/dip

This is an awesome dressing with a great bite from raw garlic and some hot paprika. It also makes a great dip. I even used it on a turkey sandwich instead of mayo - a bit thinner than mayo, but it still worked, and added a ton of flavor.

2/3 cup sour cream
1 cup light mayonnaise (I used Hellmans)
2 cloves garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon hot Hungarian paprika
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 cup buttermilk (I used Organic Valley lowfat)

Place everything in a blender, and process until smooth. Make sure the garlic is completely processed. Refrigerate for a few hours so the flavors come together.

It makes 2.25 cups, or 36 tablespoons. Nutrition info per tablespoon:

Sounds yummy. Does this taste similar to garlic sauce you get at arabic restaurants?
  • Do you mean tzatziki? If so, not quite. The similarity I see between the two is the garlic. However, the buttermilk and mayo adds a different flavor than the other, which is usually yogurt (or sour cream) and cucumber.

If that's not the sauce you're referring to, I'm not sure of the answer. :)

Nope that's not it. Its like a garlic spread its very strong in garlic flavor and amazing. Put it on pitas. I want to make some but never have
  • I think you might mean toum (that's the Lebanese name anyway). It's pretty much garlic, salt, lemon, olive oil? I've never made it either maybe google a recipe.
