    No, I wouldn't. If I had a pooch from having kids so be it and I would be proud of it. It's nothing to be ashamed about.

    Not to be rude, but if you had a pooch from eating too much would you be proud of it too? I think not. Having multiples completely stretches out the skin on your stomach into something that looks similar to a shower curtain. It isn't a cute little bump, or whatever it is you are imagining is something to be proud of. It hurts to jog. It is uncomfortable in general. It can really mess with your self esteem. Especially if you have worked your butt off to lose all this extra weight and then you've got this skin, just hanging. I'm speaking from experience when I say this. Once I lose my weight and keep if off, if there is no progress with this stomach skin, then I too will seek medical help.

    Love you- thank you!- Just to confirm i am not a lazy women who is looking for an easy option, I have eaten well for 18months completed boot camp, insanity, P90x as well as having intense gym progs now built from decreasing body fat and still have this. I am incredibly proud of my children and to experience the twin pregnancy and birth i know my body pushed itsself to its limit to care for these babies.

    I am now complete as a family my husband also agrees that he does not wish for more children so this is where i repay my body by making it look good again, I do look in the mirror and am so happy with all I have achieved but this is a visible thing, its noticeable with clothes just sits between pant lines and waist band and its not like I have not tried.
  • No I wouldn't, I don't like the way it looks after surgery, the skin is pulled into unnatural shapes and then you have the scars. If I ever do get to my target weight, I will use bio oil to fade the worst of the wrinkles and stretch marks, and I will eat right and get lots of water. I expect that after two years most of the sagging and pouches will have gone and my stomach muscles tightened up with exercise. For all its flaws, I prefer a natural body look, even if that means some wobbly bits :-)

    No, I wouldn't go under the knife. I am going to force myself to hike to the gym and start strength training which will not only tone, but benefit bones, heart, etc.

    I have a similar issue so I know where you are coming from although mine is like a piece of string has been pulled tight right around the middle of my waist. I have a flattish lower tummy but above my belly button the skin is so stretched & flabby it is impossible to cover it up . 2+ years ago when I was near my ideal weight after a 7+ stone loss, I still had this horrible stomach that no matter what would never go back by itself. I felt so self conscious wearing anything fitted as even thought my legs, arms back were slim my stomach would look bigger than it was because of this stretched skin & fat pockets. I felt worse then than I do now 30lbs heavier, as at least my stomach is in proportion to the rest of me at the moment.

    I would wear body smoothers all the time, even in summer & I can tell you, they were NOT comfortable. SO if you can afford it then go for it. I will for sure as soon as I shift this weight again & maintain for a period I know I can sustain.

    which is what the op also does and yet after several kids & carrying some extra weight her body cannot go back to how she wants it to. :huh:

    Nope. I have exactly the same issue, after having 2 children, one by caesarean, but I would never have non-essential surgery.

    I've used bio oil, cocoa butter, all the pregnancy creams for 5 years whilst losing the bulk of my excess weight & guess what, zip, nada, nothing happened. Skin that has been damaged over years isn't able to go back to how it once was, you might see "some" improvement but not enough if the damage was bad to begin with.

    If you are in your 20's you might have a chance, I'm nearly 40, was overweight for a decade & had a kid in between & it isn't ever going to happen.

    Ive had two kids and even before them I was never skinny. Hit 20 stone a couple of years ago- bit of a wake up call! Ive lost a bit of weight, and got 5 stone to go to hit my target. I know, sure as hell if and when I get there I am doing to have the most saggy flob of skin left. There is no way I am going to lose 8 stone and not be able to show off the new bod! Long way off, but already know that I will have to end up having a tummy tuck.

    Go girl... youve worked hard to lose weight, have the surgery and feel proud!

    I would! I have 2 children, both my c-sections. If my husband and I ever got to the point where we were able to afford a tummy tuck w/out breaking the bank, then I would in a heart beat.

    no friggin way. i am prrof positive that you can do it. i weighed 316 the day i delivered my 2nd child. i have a nice flat set of abs that i work very very hard for everyday.it is do able!!! it has taken a looong time but it can be done!!

    Thank you for this. This is my plan. To loose the weight with cardio-vascular and then when the kids are bigger and i have stopped having them ;) Go to the gym and do stomach training every day :)
  • Try reverse crunches to tone up a flabby tummy. It's working for me! No one said getting in shape was easy and I personally would rather put in the hard work and effort. Surgery is a lazy persons option in my opinion.

    What a silly statement. There are some body issues that just cannot be fixed through diet and exercise. I think the OP has well and truely put in her time and effort into loosing weight, and I did not see her saying it was easy either. I highly doubt she will remove a large child birth induced pouch of loose skin with 'reverse crunches' alone.

    ^^I agree. There seems to be a HUGE misunderstanding here. The OP is not talking about FAT, she's talking about SKIN. Fat can be dealt with through diet and exercise. Excess, hanging skin can NOT. It can NOT. It can NOT!! It doesn't matter how many crunches she does!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If someone has excess, hanging skin from childbirth or huge amounts of weight loss, they have 2 options...

    1. Live with it
    2. Have surgery to correct it.

    So stop telling people to work out to deal with their SKIN sagging!!!!! THAT doesn't work!! Ok???? ....OK.

I don't think some of you have ever really SEEN a lot of excess skin (most people do not ever show their hanging skin.) If you had ever really SEEN it, you would know it's not something that any workout can repair.
  • Whatever you do make sure you find a board certified plastic surgeon and really, really, really investigate both him and the hospital where the procedure will be done. Don't be afraid to ask for referrals and talk to people who have had this procedure done. Good luck and enjoy.

I don't think some of you have ever really SEEN a lot of excess skin (most people do not ever show their hanging skin.) If you had ever really SEEN it, you would know it's not something that any workout can repair.

    to those who say work out blah blah and surgery is the lazy way out you clearly do not suffer with the loose SKIN that happens after several children its not the same as fat not even close have half a dozen kids then try getting the skin and not to mention abdominal muscles to function the same way again.
  • Personally, unless small children and animals were running in fear of my extreme disfigurement I would not have any vanity surgery.....I've had too much regular surgery and it is awful enough. Give it some time, I hear it takes as much as a year or two for skin to reshape to the new body.

    For vanity purposes if I had the money psh why lie.. *kitten* yes I would lol. I'd excercise as much of I could off and maintain a healthy diet before and after. But I'd surely take any unnecessary fat ffrom my body and stick it in my butt. Ay I'm just saying my personal opinion lol. Do what u think is right noone can make the choice for u

    Go for it!! Not everyone can reclaim their muscle tone after having babies and not everyone has wonderful resilient skin that shrinks right back into shape after being stretched. If you are comfortable with the idea and can financially afford it I say go for it and enjoy.

    Amen sister. not only can the excess skin be unsightly it can also harbor bacteria and lead to nasty, nasty yeast infections. And if you have ever seen one of those you know what I am talking about. They're painful to look at, nasty to smell and I cannot imagine what they must feel like.

    I've had dermasanding and undermininig (needle used to un-criss-cros) to deal with my severe acne scars. Maybe I should have just washed more? Or done sit-ups? That is tantamount to what some people seem to be saying on here: "loose excess skin by doing crunches you lazy sod".** That is a very insensitive statement.

    (BTW, I had multiple procedures and also some chemical peels. My doctor wanted to do one more procedure and I said no....I decided I would live with the scars that showed. That was back in 2002-2003.)

    I know from that experience that once I make it down to my goal weight, I will probably elect for some surgery. I would do it for ME. I have stretch marks now from all the back and forth weight loss/gaining I have done over the years. I see not a thing wrong with it. I may have some saggy skin too and that I would surely want dealt with.

    I have fears I will look less young for my age as I lose weight as the fat goes out of my face...but I probably wouldn't elect for facelifts. I am 44 now though so that may change when I am older, don't know.

    I have to say that the people posting on here inspire me. How healthy and strong you look! :smokin:

    **I was using some sarcasm to make a point. Excess skin is NOT fat. I had a friend who went from 420 down to 130. She had flaps of skin under her arms and also on her legs you could easily see. They would literally swing around when she walked. She did not elect to have them removed as her husband does not seem to care and she doesn't either. I actually encouraged her to look into the surgery as many insurance companies will cover skin if it is deemed a health hazard.

    Its not just fat. Its loose skin and muscle with no elasticity. Surgery is generally the only option.

    I dont think its fair to say lazy, While I was on maternity leave I was working out daily sometimes up to 3 hrs a day on and off in order to get in shape. I have tried numerous stomch exercises and plans p90x, 30day shred, insanity etc as well as gym workouts which always include abs. I am not denying they have improved definately. I have slight abs in the top of my tummy but the lower is just skin that hangs over, can feel abs behind but have to get rid of the skin first dont i. If i continue to loose weight I will be classed as in a low weight for my height. Opinion is one thing but to say lazy when you dont know the facts is just a pure insult. Thanks anyway

    Not over sensitive, thanks. Its nice to hear and see the support. I am not a really vein person in need of 'lookign beautifiul' just the best that I can and I am not looking for a way out I will gladly still workout as I want to continue to work on my definition and to be honest I love it. Some people i feel just read the tittle and made an opinion without reading the post.

    (you look fab in pic by the way) I was impressed with my slight curves formed in my arms then saw yours!!
