So these past couple weeks I lost 7lbs & a few inches. 1 inch a week off my butt to be exact & it's driving me bonkers! I want to lose weight anywhere but there! I know you can't spot reduce. Or at least if you can I'm completely unaware of that fact. Anyway I've been trying to do research on how to prevent this from happening & haven't found too much. Anybody have any suggestions on how to combat this or exercises that they know will work to add inches back? Thank you lots!! :flowerforyou:

Squats and lunges with weights will build you a beautiful backside0

You know those times when someone points out something so obvious & you sit there wondering how you overlooked that? Yeah I just had that! I never thought to do my squats with a weight!! Thanks hun!0 -
Include barbell glute bridges and 1 leg hip extensions on a bench. Those two exercises will work the glutes like nothing else.0

agree with squats (and cycling!) plus after a while ur body will lose weight from elsewhere. for me i always lose weight off my chest first which only serves to make me look even more out of proportion when i start to lose weight. it's evened out a bit now0

You need to build it up with muscle! I list most of my leg exercises in my story http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/740340-i-lost-60-lbs-at-age-51-anyone-can-any-workout
Also I do this http://bretcontreras.com/2012/09/the-glute-squad/0 -
I was just thinking of making a post like this because my husband has been complaining about the same problem :blushing:
Thanks to everyone who shared ideas, I will definitely start adding them to my workouts!0 -

I can tell you now do not get discouraged. If you are curvy now you will be then too. I have lost more weight then my ticker says but at first I lost my chest and my butt...and my boyfriend wasnt to happy...since then my chest and butt went up a little bit but my waist is whats going down now and faster than my butt and chest. Itll get you down at first but once u loose more in the middle just think of how much your butt will look bigger  but no seriously...squats...lunges....or i do shaun t's rockin' body workout and theres one tape called "booty time" and all those crazy booty shaking moves you see during dancing shows/movies...keep doing those and they burn like hell but hey it works lol just dont be discouraged...ull even out again0

Just like your body decided where it wanted to pile on the fat, your body will decide where it wants to take it off. Its a survival skill you've learned from your great great great great grand cave mother.
To build a head turning back side you'll need to heavy strength train that booty. The lifts below will help you pack on some nice hard muscle back there and help you drop fat everywhere else.
Squats - and its variants (Bulgarian, front bb, back bb, overhead squat, etc)
Deadlifts - and its variants (Romanian, Sumo, and Bulgarian)
Lunges
Good Mornings
Barbell Hip Thrusts
Train these like a man, hit them hard and heavy. Ensure your form is correct because if it isn't, injuring yourself becomes a very real possibility.0 -

Good mornings & squats were the only things on my list so this list helps! Even when I was 118lbs I still had a curvy butt, I don't know why it's deciding to disappear as I lose weight cuz it sure didn't grow when I gained!!0 -

mvasallo, I want to thank you for posting this topic, as you've gotten wonderful suggestions that I will use for myself, hahaha. I have the same problem! I only have an average sized butt when I'm overweight, and as soon as I lose a couple of pounds it recedes into nothingness. Apparently I'm not doomed to be flat butted after all.
Thanks! :flowerforyou:0 -
You can't spot reduce like you said! There's no way to play God with weight loss and where you're gonna lose weight! So lose the butt and rebuild it thru Brazil Butt Lift (I always had a flat butt, even when I was obese and it worked wonders for me) or lotsa lower body weight training!0

I have that dvd! but being momma to 3 kids 4yo & under & a student I am already pushing the limits of "me" time doing p90x everyday. But all these suggestions were perfect! Adding a couple a day won't take as long as the dvd. In the summer I want to do it though. Which option did you use? The classic one of the other options?0
