I know a lot of place where it's mandatory they ID you. Even if you're 75 years old they're required to check your ID. So I don't think getting ID''d means you look young.

Like the whole point of the topic, people don't always look their age. Young people can look old...hence why they check IDs I'm assuming.

I always get mistaken for being younger then i am so i used to get upset when people mistook me as my nieces mum as that would have made me an 18yr old mum and i look younger still. and now im 24 and shes 5 people think she is my lil sister so its all good now :). And i enjoy being carded.

Younger, though I'm not carded much anymore :grumble:

I do enjoy seeing people's expressions when I tell them I'm a grandmother.

I pass for 40 easily, and I am 54. You'll be glad in about 30 years that you look younger.

I told someone I've known for a while that I was 40 and they burst out laughing because they thought I was 28. He might have been trying to get into my good books, mind. Then again, most people have been surprised when I tell them I am 40.
  • People this my 13 year old sister are older than me.
I drove to the store and they didn't think I was old enough to drive yet.
They thought SHE drove ME there.
    I'm 21 and it's pretty annoying.

People usually guess me younger but whether that's my looks or a general lack of decorum or someone just trying to be polite and play it safe - I don't know. I don't want to know. I did get carded a couple years ago - that was a banner day.

I'm turning 22 in december and I'm constantly asked if I go to the local public regional high school, when I graduated in 08 / 09... and they think I'm lying when I say "If I went to college, I would have been class '12 / '13"
  • No one ever believes I'm 36!!! yayyyyyyyyyy!:drinker:

I hate looking ridiculously young. It makes it that much harder to be taken seriously when dealing with my daughter's school stuff. I was once mistaken for an 8th grader. (granted, 1/2 was my fault for wearing a 15 yr old backpack, but I was in DC and I didn't want my stuff stolen. it's my "don't bother mugging me, I'm a poor student" backpack.) i was 34'ish. My husband doesn't understand why I hate being carded "take it as a compliment" hello?! It's frustrating to have to dig it out when there is a new bouncer! Especially in the winter. (I usually have it ready then.)

however, I don't want to look old, either.

I'm 32 and I get carded for everything . I'm used to it now. I always smile at the person and they always double check the date. Though I have had some people think my I.D. is fake since I've lost weight and cut my hair. What kills me is going to the casino down here. I swear I'm gonna wear my I.D. like a name badge so the security will stopped perstering me

I honestly don't think that people know what 40 should look like. I look in the mirror and I think I look 40. (I'm 42) But people tell me they think I'm in my early 30's. (Yes, I know, not a picture of me in my avatar, but the most recent face shot I have of me is 10 years old, so it doesn't mean anything anyway.)

I was carded the last time I was in a bar, which was...oh...hmm...6 years or so ago...and my younger friend with me didn't get carded, so it wasn't that they were carding everyone.

Of course, she may have been just carding all the women in hopes of getting a better tip (it worked!) but it was still flattering.

I was at the grocery with our son in TN and the woman at the till thought he was my husband!! He was a bit flabbergasted and stammered out "um, no, I'm her son and we're both old enough to buy beer!" He'll be 35 in November so I felt good!

You do look very young. But you are very young still. When you are like 40-ish and people think you are 30, then you will really appreciate it.

Yep. I routinely got carded until I was in my late 30s--still do on occasion at 42. I'm a college professor and three times this semester I've been asked if I'm a student. I don't look 20--maybe early 30s--so maybe they think I'm a grad student. I'm not complaining--I'll take it!
  • I look like a fetus and always have my ID ready.

HAHAHAH almost fell off my chair laughing... and I'm so sorry for your misfortune!!

It might be the pink wig. Makes you look like a youngin.

I occasionally teach a college course. I always dress ultra professionally on those days. I think the students think I'm in my 30s until I start making cultural references from the 70s.

I'm 36 and people tend to be pretty surprised by that. I don't usually get carded though. On the other hand when I was 30 I got carded trying to go into a place that had a no one under 16 rule.

people usually think I'm younger. I'm fine with that.
  • Younger...it's actually pretty cool, I'm still a big kid at heart, I love video games, superheros, fantasy books, and most of all play with my kids and my dogs
  • Everyone thinks I'm like 13-15. They see me with my daughter and give me really dirty looks. Or they think she's my little sister. I'm going on 19. I worked at a gas station and customers always asked if i was even old enough to sell cigarettes. I get carded for buying lottery tickets even. Its ridiculous. Everyone at college thinks i'm some little kid.

When I'm a lone I'm mistaken for being 5years younger than my real age. When I'm with my mother surprisingly enough they think I'm older and she's younger because they think that we are sisters.

Younger. I'm 26 but still have to keep my ID on me. Though when I'm out with mum if she's dyed her hair recently people ask if we are sisters, but then she's only about 17 years older.
  • Ive gotten pulled over for looking like an under-aged teen driving without an adult...smh
