On most days I know what I will be making for dinner, so I will log it. This makes it easier to make choices through the rest of the day to keep to my calorie goal and macros.

I plan out my next day's meals at bed time each night. This way I can pack whatever I'm going to bring to work the night before and just grab it in the morning instead of stressing all day about what I'm going to eat.

I do this too! And every week I sit down at my computer and decide what recipes I want to make the following week/weekend (usually picking ones I've found on Pinterest or other online sources). I make a list of the recipes, the ingredients for each, then go through my kitchen to see which ingredients I have on hand and which I need to buy. I keep a running grocery list on my smartphone, so when I notice one of my staples is running low I immediately add it to the list. Doing these things makes it so much easier to eat healthy!
  • I do that too. Not all days, but especially when I feel like I'm falling off the wagon a little, I'll plan my days out in advance so that I have a good idea of what I'm eating the entire day.

absolutely. every day. I hated, in the beginning, finding out I only had 200 calories left for supper.... I sometimes plan my whole week out in advance if I have the time, but I tend to eat the same thing repeatedly...

Yes, I find that when I plan my days in advance it helps me to stick with my goals. It is especially helpful to plan what I'll be eating before going to restaurants vs. waiting until I get there.

I eat the same thing for breakfast, morning snack and lunch everyday.. with a few minor variations.
I log that all in the morning.. Dinner is the creation of my chef husband, so it is generally portion size driven, as he can eat whatever he wants..........
Take a peek at my diary if you need further explanation.

For the most part yes. On the days I work, I have everything up until dinner recorded before I walk out the door. And I always have the same thing after workouts for the most part. It def helps keep me in check!

I have too! I couldnt imagine not planning and making sure I had healthy stuff in to prepare or I would end up eating out of the chocloate machine at work each day (which is probably how I put the weigh on in the first place!!!)

I do this a lot. Sometimes before I go to bed at night, I have all three of the next days meals in and snacks too. It really helps me stick with it, and to know if I have room in the day anywhere for extra calories if I get snackish.

Yup, every night before I go to bed I pre-log the next day and pack my lunch/snacks. This way there's no question about what I'm going to have and when, and I'm less likely to be tempted by the bowls of candy and boxes of donuts that are always in the office.

I usually log and premake most of my meals the day before. With my hectic school/work schedule, I don't really have time in the morning to do all of that before I start my day.

Same as almost everyone. I plan a few days in advance because i pretty much know what i will be eating for my meals everyday - Pre-workout/Post-workout/B'fast/Lunch/Dinner/Snacks. It's actually something i look forward to doing.

I do to a certain extent. I eat a lot of the same foods over and over. I have the same 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 5 snacks, and couple dozen dinners that I rotate out.

It works for me for a few reasons.

1~ I know where I stand calorie wise and avoid as much guess work as possible so I don't get tripped up as easily.
2~ It helps me financially because I have my grocery list down and don't spend money on stuff I don't need.

Of course there are times when things come up and I can't stick to my typical pattern but those days come and go without disrupting my weight loss too much! :drinker:

Yes! I pre-log almost daily and then edit it if I didn't follow the plan for some reason. That way if I know I will be having a treat or eating out I can plan around that and make sure I don't get derailed. I can also eyeball my total fruits and veggies and macros to see if my plan looks good or needs changing BEFORE I actually eat it.

I also find (as others have said) that looking forward to the food for the day helps with enjoying what I'm eating and enjoying the portion size I'm allowed to eat.

I do a week at a time and then I make my shopping list off this meal plan.
  • Oh yes! I have to or I may overeat. Plus I want to remember what I put in my body.

Yes, since I have to bring in lunch for work. Breakfast is always the same, lunch is determined by what I cooked/prepped the night before. If I don't bring in lunch, I wind up with Cheez-Its for lunch from the vending machine, so planning is key. I don't have the time or the money to have a healthy restaurant meal for lunch.

I suppose I could go crazy with dinner but it's almost always a veggie burger and maybe frozen veg, no bun if I'm running low on available calories.

I just plan my dinners in advance. Unless I am going to be meeting someone for lunch, then I plan that ahead. Its hard for me to eat healthy when I watch others eat whatever they want. It takes more will power. So the pre-planning helps me stick to a goal :)

yep! on days I work (3 days a week) I have my whole day planned before I even get up! On days I'm off it gets a little more difficult.

I do for the most part. I always go in and alter, but it gives me an idea of what I'm dealing with for the day.

    ^^ this ^^
somedays I will eat almost exactly whan I plan, some days don't go according to plan, but having a plan lets me see what I can and can't do in a pinch.

and pre-logging exercise holds me accountable to do it.
