exact same happens to me .. I avoid the scale that week!0

Yep
We hold onto water during that time, not sure why but what you describe happens to me :grumble:0 -
Totally normal. Not everyone has it happen but enough of us do that it's totally normal. Whenever I suddenly put on 3-5 pounds (for no other reason) I know my TOM is about to arrive. And then it drops right off after.0

i get so bloated :mad:0
-
YES!!!!!!!!!! :noway: I hate it!0

I only gain if I eat like a maniac during that time (which I sometimes do... hehehe). Otherwise, I still consistently lose.0

You know with a title like that every man is going to look! ROFL!0
-
Yup! I gain as much as 8 pounds, which shows A LOT on me since I'm only 4'11".0
-
Yep. Every time. I also crave the crap out of carbs the week before, and used to deprive myself, but I found if I let myself have a pasta day once or twice before my period, I actually am in a better mood and the scale stays steady or drops when I'm done0
-
The only thing I like about it is, I've lost enough weight now to notice that my belly pokes out more once a month. That's something, anyway.0
-
I think alot of women see this - you tend to retain alot more fluid during your period and it will come and go every month. I wouldn't be to concerned during that week, especially if you notice it coming right back off0
-
Yup same thing happens to me0
-
Absolutely normal. It is mostly due to water retention. A number of fitness books will tell you to look out for it. You can also feel more drained, making it harder to exercise. Also, a couple of running books I have suggest that you may need a few extra calories to maintain normal energy. Those calories do not have to come from junk. But don't feel concerned if you eat a bit more salad than normal (or whatever)0

I find that my weight goes DOWN by 1/1.5lb a few days before my period, I can eat more than normal if I feel the need for the 1st and 2nd day and then afterwards I'm back to where I was before it all started.
Now I know this I tend to make sure I don't indulge my cravings and that way the initial loss usually stays off which is a bonus!0 -

lol...that said, one thing I have picked up on is if I try REALLY hard not to give in to my cravings during my period I usually end up dropping even more weight that week once the bloat goes away.0 -
havent you been doing this for almost 10 years by now?0
-
honey did you just start???
do you need the talk ?0 -
I gained 9 pounds week before last....makes no sense to me but dropped it last week. Go figure!:explode:0

About a week before AF is due I can eat anything and everything and not get full. I have dubbed it Shark Week so when I talk with friends. They get a kick out of that, but it's appropriate for how much I want to eat. The urge to eat stops abruptly about 2 days before AF shows and then a day after AF shows up my weight goes back to normal completely and I have my energy back.
I am currently up about 2 or 3 pounds and AF should be showing in a couple days. Looking forward to seeing what the scale says on Sunday!0 -
I usually gain 2-4lb but lose it again easily once my hormone calm down.0
-
Going through that right now. I know it and I STILL stepped on the scale only to frustrate myself! argh!!!0
-
Total normal honey... I usually know when I'm about to start, I eat so much leading up to it, then it's a fight to get it off after!0
-
Yup normal! I'm 5lbs like clockwork - it goes away right after. If I indulge and take in too much salt it might last an extra day or two that's it :-)0
-
It kind of depends on the month, sometimes I do bloat up like a pufferfish (jeans are snug, shoes are snug) and this is when I either maintain my weight, or gain a lb or two, then a few days after my official "period arriving" day, the water weight drops off (magnificent bathroom breaks!) as well as a lb or two.
Some months I don't gain at all, and I don't end up losing either.
I exercise regularly during TOM, and try to keep my raging hunger in check by many small snacks throughout the day, plenty of water and green tea.0 -
You bet it happens to most of us. Must admit the worst time for me was when I went through a stage of having a male personal trainer. Of course I knew the reason for my 5lb weight gain, but he just kept asking my what I thought I'd been doing wrong all week!!! He was impressed the following week though when I'd 'lost' the 5lb plus another 1!! ;-)0

me too, water retention!!0

*cracks up*
I used to have that at WW even and I was damned if I was announcing in front of everyone that it was my TOM.0
