Shoes or no shoes??

I am just wondering if you are working out at home do you wear shoes?? Sometimes I do sometimes I dont..

Unless it's yoga, I prefer to wear shoes. makes my ankles feel better0

Yep. I have awful feet (plantar fasciitis and a cyst in the marrow of one of my heels), so I go for as much cushion and support as possible at all times.0

No shoes at home for me - pretty much all the time but definitely when I'm working out. We have a rug in the living room which is the only place with a tv and DVD player (gasp, shocking!) and it's too much friction with shoes on so I end up having bad form and feel like I'm going to trip myself. As long as you're not experiencing any pain or balance problems, barefoot should be fine.0

I was all barefoot until I got shin splints, now I wear shoes unless I'm doing Yoga. I really want to give those barefoot sneakers a try. I wish I never had to wear shoes :grumble:0

Depends on the exercises you're doing. For example, I find that some exercises like push-ups and planks are more comfortable in shoes. However, other ones are easier w/o shoes.0

No shoes for me! I workout barefoot.
And honestly, one of the reasons I prefer working out at home is because it cuts down on laundry!! I'm usually just in a sports bra and underwear at home; if I were going to the gym, I'd have to actually put shorts and a shirt on.0 -

I like to lift barefoot but the gym won't allow it, so I wear Chuck Taylors to lift, and minimalist sneakers to run. Unless I'm running on grass, in which case I like to run barefoot.0

The only time i do no wear shoes is when i am doing ab workouts. Even wearing shoes that are too flat bothers me... =/0

When I lived in a house with a cement floor, it was shoes. Too hard on the joints. But in a house with a wood floor, there is more give, so no shoes. That was when I did Sweatin' to the Oldies videos or stationary bike.0

Depends on the workout. If there is any sort of impact, my knees feel better with shoes.0

And I feel awful saying this, but it makes me feel so much better that people who appear to be smaller than me are having foot problems. I was feeling so very self conscious about my plantars faciitis.0 -
I wear Nike Free's for all indoor exercising. When I'm doing a yoga dvd, I don't wear shoes. That's the only time I go barefoot.0

WEAR SHOES!!!!!! Seriously, I didn't wear them and did exercise videos when I was visiting my parents for FOUR DAYS in January. On day 4 I tore a tendon in my foot and couldn't work out or do any sport for FOUR MONTHS. It was the most painful thing I've ever done and it still aches now.0

Shoe for me, only because past foot problems. Not worth going there again!0

i have Plantar Fasciitis and Plantar Fibromatosis in both feet so unless i am in bed sleeping for the night, i have to wear some form of shoes all the time. but...yes for working out at home, when i do that, i always wear my shoes.0

hardly wear shoes but the main reason is I like to do fun workouts and slide across the floor like tom cruise0

depends on the workout.. 99.999% of the time I will wear shoes, berber carpet can be tough to grip feet or socks on.. slide all over the place!!0

I agree with this. I have gone back and forth on wearing shoes for most of my cardio. Right now, no shoes but I work out on an industrial carpet in my pool house.0 -
Depends on the workout and the surface... I do Karate and yoga in my bare feet but all my plyometrics and resistance training I do with shoes on... I also have a 1" thick mat down to work out on... it really makes a difference for the knees and ankles.0

Shoes -- used to do barefoot until I got tendinitis above my ankle. I need the extra support.0

I ALWAYS wear shoes. I need the support, high arches. I also have IT BAND issues and the extra support in my shoes help with my knees. My pediatrist recommends that I never go barefoot, even in the shower. I can't do that. I love my flipflops and being barefoot in the summer.0

Shoes....never actually thought I could go with out, but now that I know so many people do I may try it!0
