I always struggled to stay average weight when I was in school. In college,I was able to get down to 135 which was the thinnest I had ever been. After I got married,I started having medical problems, diagnosed with hypothyroidism and PCOS,packed on the weight.,went up to 200#.Then when I was able to get pregnant,I was not able to lose the pregnancy weight,my highest was 227.I am currently 214,have been able to lose some with exercise and eating a whole different way,but it takes me extra long to lose even a little amount. My doctor says it's because of my insulin resistence,so I am trying a few different ways of eating to reach my goal. I have about 80 more lbs to lose.I understand how difficult it is to be overweight and how discouraging things can get.I believe you can reach your goaland I will reach mine.Feel free to friend me if you like.Best of luck to you.0

My Husband and I joined weight watchers a little over a year ago. Both of us had over 100 lbs to lose, we were actually finalist to be on the biggest loser if that is any indication of how big we were. My husband was pushing 450 lbs and I was 250! Too big and too young. Currently I'm down 67 and my husband is down 96. So it's possible. Just remember it's a life long journey. YOu'll have good weeks and bad weeks. The biggest thing that helped me was non scale victories when I didn't have a good week on the scale. FOr example, having my engagement ring that I couldn't wear before i started, finally fit, and then that moment when I had to go and get it resized because it was too big. I joined Crossfit 6 weeks ago and they recommended that I check out this site and I'm so glad I did. Moral here: you can do it, take it slow and remember it's not about a number on the scale. I've changed my life around and feel incredible. Caring about what I eat and what I do for exercise is so much nicer than sitting around throwing a pity party and eating my feelings. Add me if you want! It's tough, but worth it and really attainable. Set small goals and you'll do it. you made great strides just from signing up for MFP, have a goal be to measure and track every day for a week. Once that week is over add to you goal. You can do it!0

I was 335 at my heaviest, 300 when I started here. It is a journey, but you can certainly do it! I am a little over halfway to my goal weight and I know even though it isn't easy, I will make it! This site has given me another tool to help keep me on track. The motivation is terrific and it has been very helpful tracking my food. It is amazing how quickly those calories will add up if you let it go unchecked!
Best of luck to you and anyone can feel free to add me :happy:0 -
I started off well in the 280s, which was quite a shock. I had lost weight in '04 and was around 210. Now down 18 lbs since July. I hope to be back to 210 by next spring and who knows, maybe by summer I can get back to under 200, which is a weight I haven't seen since the 80s.0

So about me - I've always been a "big guy". Weighed probably 320-ish when I graduated high school. For a while I improved and got down to about 275 (UPS - crappy job, great workout!), but then fell off the wagon and shot back up to 405 at my peak. Now I'm 28 and trying to get rid of it for good. I'm down about 30 lbs so far but still haven't been as serious as I want to be. I'm back in school and it's tough trying to balance work/study/exercise plus eating healthy when I really just want something quick and convenient!
Looking for anyone in a similar situation or who just wants to share motivation!

I've always been up over 200. after getting out of prison i started working out and playing a lot of softball. that was easy enough, because it was fun. I didn't start eating better until recently, its going to be a long battle, but i've been through worse. i started this venture at 185...2 weeks later i'm at 183. motivation is hard.0

I have a lot to lose and would love to do it before my 40th birthday. I kicked some serious butt the first 5 weeks on here but have been struggling since. The good news, haven't gained in the past few weeks, the bad news, have only dropped about 2 pounds this month. We are all going to have our struggles and hope that we (MFP) can help you out.
Feel free to add me in you want.

I'm in the same boat as you my friend. I've always been a big girl and I have a large frame. Back when I was 16, something terrible happened in my life and I just let myself go, and stopped caring. Food became my comfort and security blanket. Then one day I woke up and hated what I saw in the mirror, and didn't believe all the weight I had gained. Worked in retail for awhile, so I was always on my feet, and I would walk off what I had eaten that day. Then I went from that to a desk job, and I gained a lot of what I had lost back. Was at that job for 3 years. Then I decided to go back to college after taking a 4 year break after HS. Got so busy with school, and would eat what was convenient etc. Then after college, I got another desk job, and ended up getting so depressed in that job from how badly I was treated, that food still was my comfort. Left that job, and went to the one I'm currently at. Unfortunately it's another desk job, but I'm happier. I have been under a lot of stress the past year, and just recently lost my father. I'm trying my best to not turn to food for comfort, because I know it won't do any good.
I have about 100 lbs to lose, give or take. It's one of the hardest things I've done, but this site has been a great help so far. You've definitely come to the right place. I'll add you, and we can cheer each other on. I wish you the best of luck! Anyone can feel free to add me as well0 -
I'm right here with you all. Started at 275lbs, currently at 256...on ny way down to 180lbs (I'm 5'8"). I have lost 100+lbs twice before, so I know it is possible. Feel free to add me if you want straight forward advice, encouragement & the odd bit of constructive criticism. I don't write fluff like 'well done you' without actually knowing what I'm writing it about (I will actually read your food diary & status updates)0

I am with you. I was 430 lbs my freshmen year of high school. My friends got me into football and i lost 100+ lbs in one season. I continued to play football all the way thru high school and my weight would go between 325-355 because i was gaining muscle by lifting weights.
My senior year we got a new coaching staff that did not use me as much. After a falling out with them i gave up all my dieting and starting going to the all you can eat places. I avoided the scales as much as possible. I am now 23 and looking to make a change.0 -
I have loads to lose still. Its a learning curve and a long journey, but I am actually enjoying getting to know myself.0

i have slowly creaked up the weight since forever. i dont remember not gaining weight. i am 34 and when i started this weight loss journey i was 311. i have 140 to lose. which is a lot for me. i have tried for years but i feel that i am finally in a place that i want to be i am working towards a goal. i am making positive changes in my life and i am in control of what i eat and what i do. before it was the food and the exaustion controling me. now it is me taking the reigns. its a long journy and some days (like yesterday for me) are not so good. but then some days are excellent. its a journy and i am here for you if you want to add me. i am on about 3 times a week on the boards and try to respond daily to my "wall" i love the support we all get and give here. no one judges. its a great place and good luck on your journy. i know it can seem impossible but all of us doing it together must be able to accomplish it.
Cheers
