Let me get right to the point.. I have muscle, I can feel it and see it if I really flex, but there is a layer of fat over it (Especially my tummy :-) , I am doing mainly body weight exercises because I am new to muscle building and don't have the equipment to lift heavy. Although I hope to when I am older so that I won't loss the bit of muscle I have. My question is, should I continue doing the body weight exercises I am doing, and do a bit more cardio so I can loss the layer of fat, but keep that muscle, OR should I drop the cardio and just work more on muscle definition? I am eating around 1300-1400 calories a day, I am 5' 7", 18 yrs. old, 132 pounds. Please no mean posts, I used to suffer from depression, and am trying to suck it up and get over it, but I really don't want mean people right now. Thanks for anything you have!

PS My cardio is mainly brisk walking the dog for 30-60 minutes 3 times a week, plus I am a busser so I am on my feet for 4 hours, doing a lot 3 days a week

Losing fat is just a function of calorie deficit. You can accomplish a calorie deficit with diet alone, with exercise alone, or with some combination of the two.

So, definitely keep up the resistance training and decide on whatever mix of cardio and eating you like to lose the rest of the fat.

Sounds like you are doing fine. Keep doing the bodyweight exercises and try to increase what you are doing over time. If knee pushups work up to full pushups to working up to incline pushups, etc. If you're going to do cardio, try to up that intensity as well. Go from walking to jogging, jogging to running, etc. Good luck with everything.

5'7" and 132 doesn't sound heavy to me, FWIW.
