    "I know how you feel"

No you DONT. This phrase angers and upsets and offends me like no other.

Please, for the sake of everything good and decent, do not say this to people who are grieving. Especially don't say it and then follow it up with a story of how your goldfish died. YOUDONOTKNOWHOWIFEEL.

    /endrant.

whew. Thank you. Needed to get that out.

Oh this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.

I got the whole "Oh I know how you feel" after my dad passed away suddenly (he was 46), I had been 18 for a week.

what if they actually do know how you feel though?

I hate when people type "WOOT!" or "Woot Woot!" Seriously - do people actually say that? I've never heard anyone SAY "WOOT". That similar noise people make is not spelled that way. I hate it.

I don't really have any particular words that bother me (or at least not any that I can think of right now).

But I hate it when my husband calls me his "old lady". I'm not even really sure why now that I think about it...
  • I hate the C word that rhymes with "bunt"

    I also hate the words;

    moist
    panties

I also hate when people write FML (especially when it's about something mundane, like a bad hair cut, or a broken nail... really? FML? DUMB.)

Because you're not old... he should refer to you as his "hot wife". :):)

haha! My 11-year old son and I keep a running list of words that just rub us the wrong way, for no apparent reason other than they just sound wierd. Off the top of my head:

    quench
    slacks
    trousers
    succulent
    shimmy
    blanche

    Again, no particular reason...

I also totally hate "slacks" and "trousers" although not as much. I thought I was the only one!

I hate the word sweet when it is used to describe another person. It is like saying, "Well, he/she is not very good looking but he/she sure is sweet!" Ugh. :)

I can see why he hates it - it's because of the way they are pronouncing it.

It's beaucoup. It's pronounced bo-coo. Gentle O's. I'm french, so I really hate when people pronounce french words in an overly American English Accent. At least TRY the right pronunciation. :)
  • "arguable"--it's a stupid word and should never be used. It makes me think it's the opposite of what it means and that hurts my head!

Oh, and the "f"-word as a verb. It's vulgar.

I hate when people cutesy swear words, either swear or don't swear. ex, oh my godfathers, bisnitch and so on.

It still counts as cursing if everyone knows what you mean.

    Ain't.

And the fact that my t9 recognizes it!! I never use that word.
  • I hate the word "thus" and the phrase "aside from that". In my line of work I do a lot of research and I have read a lot of articles using "thus" and "aside from that" so often that the content makes no sense whatever. I feel that whoever pays the authors do not proof read their work or just do not care.
  • C**t! Then again i say it quite a lot so maybe not.
