I'm trying to lose 1 lb a week. That's a caloric deficit of 3,500, right? If I have a caloric deficit of 6,200 for a week, should I eat the 2,700 calorie difference? I'm going to the Renaissance Festival on Sunday and was wondering if I could use the 2,700 to help with eating some of the goodies I will be tempted by.

  • Are your exercising at all? Are you just limiting your caloric intake to 1200?

I'm a little confused about your question. do you just want to "save up calories" for the ren fair? If so I don't think it works like that. But I am not a nutritionist.
  • I exercise every day. My sedentary level is set at 1600 according MFP. I'm not trying to save up calories. It just happens. I was just wondering if you should only be under by the 3,500.

lift weights. then you can eat a little more one day or two and you wont gain a pound.

It looks like you have enough to lose where you could reasonably have your goal set to lose more than a pound, so you should be fine. 2 pounds a week would be 7,000 deficit. So this week you might lose nearly 2 pounds, or go ahead and eat some extra on Sunday if you want to.
  • I plan on starting NROL4W next week. Guess I'm just confused about the deficit. As long as I stay at -3,500, I should lose 1lb per week right?
