I'd like to make one of my mini-goals, "Able to purchase a regular bike." I want to bike some trails near us, but I'd have to order a custom bike due to my weight. I don't want to sink that kind of money into a bike I'll only use for 8-12 months.
What is the approximate maximum weight for most bicycles? I realize bicycles come in all different frames and materials, but is there a general guideline I can use?

My husband and I purchased a couple La Jolla Cruisers from Walmart a couple years ago. They were just under $100 each. I think I was almost 300 lbs and he was almost 400 lbs at the time. We never had any problems with them, and the seats are wide and comfortable.
