So, I'm new here, and need some perspective... I weigh myself 4 or 5 times a day, and I'm thinking lately maybe that's not healthy. I think about it all the time, and it bothers me when it fluctuates throughout the day.

    Anyone want to weigh in?
Are you prepping for a contest? If not, 4 to 5 times a day is unhealthy, even competitors don't weight that much daily.
  • I'm a bit obsessive with weighing myself i weigh in the morning after iv had a pee and at night before bed, when I'm, at the gym i weight before workout and after workout ,

I just got my scales, after almost 3 years without any, so it's like I have a new and shiny toy to play with, haha.
It's not so much about obsessing over weight-loss, though, as it is to learn how I fluctuate (and I do A LOT) so I'll know when to get a decent and not misleading reading.

Completely unhealthy. You need to understand that your weight fluctuates through the day, so this is very misleading to you. If you need to do it daily (which i still don't recommend), use it right after you've woken and used the rest room.
  • I'm totally obsessed. Usually around 4 times a day.

I have kind of a follow-up question...... which weight do you all use as your "official" weight? I feel like I'm cheating if I use the morning weight cause I KNOW I will weigh more at the end of the day. I feel like I have to wait til I NEVER see a number before I can record it.
As I read this, it sounds COMPLETELY nuts, :ohwell: but I'm willing to bet I'm not alone! That's one thing I love about MFP so far... I can always find someone else who shares even my wierdest ideas and thoughts on this process!

I always use the morning weight because by the end of the day I have been eating, drinking water, and exercising (which causes some water retention) so I know that it will be gone by the time I wake up and release it. Whatever weight you choose to use is fine, as long as you know that the things you do throughout the day can make it fluctuate. It could be higher on Tuesday, lower on Wednesday night, and then higher on Thursday because of something you ate. It's all up to you. :)
