P90X and those who are really overweight.

I am just wondering how many have attempted to do P90x when they are 100 lbs overweight and completely out of shape...

I have been working out for some time - 5x/wk 30 mins at lunch doing cardio and weights on alternating days and then another workout at night, whether it be Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred or Your Shape 2012 on my kinect - for the past month and a half to two months. Also I have lost 25 lbs bringing me just below 300 lbs.

I have the P90x series but when I try, I just have SO much trouble doing everything! I can't figure out how to modify some of the moves to where I can do it.

Should I wait until I lose some more before really going at it, or just keep going?

I was 265lbs and very unfit when I started P90x, made it through the first 90 round of 90 days by modifying and going at my own pace. It can be done but you have to watch each video at least once with the pause button handy to work out your modifications before you do it for real.

So glad I stuck with it as I'm much much fitter than I was when I started.
  • Thanks! I did the ab ripper and stretch dvd's last night, and did my best, I figure as long as I try, it will help. :)

I will keep it up though!

I wasn't 100 pounds overweight but I was 40 pounds... and Tankplanker is right, modify at first and always keep pushing to do more and better... before you know it you will be keeping up! Good luck and just keep pushing play every day!

I'm more of an Insanity buff rather than P90X. Keep in mind that P90X is supposed to still be hard when you get to day 90. Just do your best and keep up with the nutrition plan. You'll get there.

    BAM

No where is it written that exercise is all or nothing. Every bit helps.
  • You have a good base getting other workouts in before starting P90X. My brother is over 100lbs overweight and he struggled emensely with it. BUT...he didnt "prepare" any and tried to START working out with P90X...he also has knee and back issues, along with a hernia that he needs to get repaired. So, in his case, it wasnt the best route to go. BUT, again, you have a good start with what you were already doing so, I say GO FOR IT!! Just do your best to modify the moves and repeat things until you are ready to move forward!

YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO!! :)

    AWESOME JOB TANKPLANKER!!!

I was 360 lbs when I did p90x. I did 9 weeks before I got the flu and then I never went back to it.

I basically had to mod everything and ended up losing 30 lbs. The thing I learned out of the process was that it doesn't matter what you do as long as you keep moving.
