  • "As soon as possible" when asking a client when they need something by...I ALWAYS get "as soon as possible". Makes me want to throttle them until they give me a date or time. I always say we always get things done as soon as possible NOW WHEN DO YOU NEED IT BY!!!

Panties. I HATE the word panties. It sounds so dirty.

This reminds me of this article I've read...apparently there are a LOT of people who hate the word "panties"! Personally, I have no problem with it :)

Dear God and Baby Jesus...where do I START?!!? Let's just begin with the entire portmanteau category:

A portmanteau (i/pɔrtˈmæntoʊ/; plural portmanteaux or portmanteaus) or portmanteau word is a combination of two (or more) words or morphemes into one new word.[1][2] A portmanteau word typically combines both sounds and meanings, as in smog, coined by blending smoke and fog.[1][3] More generally, it may refer to any term or phrase that combines two or more meanings, for instance, the term "wurly" when describing hair that is both wavy and curly.[4] In linguistics, a portmanteau is defined as a single morph which represents two or more morphemes.

"That being said" *cringe* I give you: STAYCATION

    BAHHHHHGGGHHHH!

    Here's another one: phablet

    Phone + tablet = phablet.

I also hate most words that end in --"ery", such as "hattery", "eggery" and any other made up --"ery" word that simply is meant to imply a place of containment or origin for said noun.

Nursery is okay. That's legit. So is nunnery.

I don't hate any words or phrases. Words are my friends. I love them all. I just hate the uneducated people who abuse them, misspell them and/or use them inappropriately.

    Discharge.
LOL! I work for a healthcare organization doing work on the website. When speaking in terms of when someone is released from the hospital, we use to use the phrase "Discharge date". But many people didn't like the word "discharge", so we changed the text to be "Date released from the hospital"

    So, you are not alone!

  • I hate the word "baby bump". Why can't you just say pregnant? Geez

well one is descriptive of the tummy itself--so pregnant and baby bump aren't exactly synonymous.
