Since my high school days my hair has become frizzy and damaged from flat irons and such. I haven't straightened my hair in close to a year and try to avoid blow drying it. I'm being told not wash my hair everyday. I work out 5/6 days a week, how can I not wash my hair after my workout?! Does anyone else have this problem? If so what are some things you do to help your hair be less damaged.
Not washing my hair, after I was sweating for an hour is really not an option.
Sorry if this thread is annoying to some but I honestly don't know where to post this. I figured some people that work out (especially women) probably have the same problem that I do.

Rinse it and condition it. You're hair won't be nasty if you rinse the sweat out and since you're not actually washing it shouldn't get dried out from just water and conditioner.
This is typically what I do.0 -
Deal with it. Fem here, workout 6 days a week. I wear a bandana when I gym. I wash my hair once every two days. It's greasy? Put it in a pony, use bobby pins, it's not the end of the world. That's about all you can do. OR, you can buy some dry shampoo (it's like baby powder) and available at drugstores.0

I dont have that one figured out yet, but if anyone has ideas I would be impressed! My hair get soaked from a work out so I think I would feel gross if I didnt shower.
I have very damaged hair too and my new most favorite product to counteract is the Renewing Moroccan Argan Penetrating Oil, got it from costco, have seen it at ulta (more expensive there) have also seen it at Target for cheaper than ulta.0 -

I'd recommend this option personally. I use a leave-in conditioner on my non-shampoo days and that keeps my hair in pretty good shape.0 -
<<<<<<<< of-course, there ARE other options :-)0

Check out dry shampoos - Tressemme (sp?) has some you can find at just about any drug store or grocery store.
I usually just partially dry mine with a blow drier and put it up in a pony tail.0 -
Greasy hair can me awesome when doing updo as it stays better - If you don;t have the time get some dry shampoo just for the desperate bits - this is what I do and it toally works:)

I wash mine every 2-3 days. Rinsing or dry shampoo is the way to go. There's also a foam leave-in shampoo - just have to experiment with you hair type to find what works.0

Bumping for ideas! my hair feels like straw for this reason!0

If you absolutely feel the need to wash your hair everyday, you can also try shampoos that are sulfate-free (sulfate tends to dry out the hair) or just go with the rinse and conditioner like everyone else suggested as well :-)0

P.S. There are some excellent products you can get for dry hair. I've got naturally curly hair that needs tons of moisture to stay tame so I've tried pretty much every product out there...and surprisingly enough, most of the over the counter products are beter than anything I've found in salons.
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner
Aussie Moist Shampoo and 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner
And for an extra dose of moisture, try Queen Helene's Cholesterol treatment. Sounds gross, works awesome!0 -
Thanks for the input everyone! I recently (since Sunday) started using the Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner along with the oil hoping that it won't be too harsh on my hair. I will try to use either dry shampoo or baby powder on my less intense workout days.
Also, I was just reading online that coconut oil is very good for hair. Has anyone tried this? What was your experience with it if you have used it. I was thinking to use it as once a week treatment to nourish my hair.0 -

I asked my friend with gorgeous hair (and who works out every day) how her hair is so shiny and undamaged and she said she uses Moroccan oil too. Gonna have to check it out!0
