I am vegan, and I eat a ton of fruits and veggies. I have lost 95 pounds since March, and the only exercise I do is walking. So I know for me it has not hindered my weight loss.0

Dietary fiber from vegetables like caulflower and broccolli are insoluble fiber. We as humans lack the enzyme to break down cellulose therefore they are metabolically inert. By law, companies are required to label them into the nutrition facts but we derive no calorie benefit from cellulose. So actually you're undereating. Fruits still contain fructose.0 -

No, carbs do not hinder weight loss. Only too many calories hinder weight loss. Fruits and veggies are healthy and your diet should be full of them. However, you should make sure you are also getting fats and protein.0 -
No.

I could never go vegetarian, let alone vegan. Meatatarian. I need the animal fat to keep my cholesterol low.0

(I've lost 25 pounds since joining MFP thanks in most part to completely changing what I choose eat. I eat more food now than I ever have. Prudent plant-based diet FTW!)0 -
Eating buckets full of vegetables isn't what makes people fat....last time I checked! I eat a plant based diet and have lost 15 lbs since January. I'd worry more about eating over processed grains and junk food.0

What do you eat for protein?
I was going to answer this but you have answered
Beans, tofu, almond milk, oatmeal, peanut butter, broccoli, brown rice...
But is there enough protein in there? I am not trying to be antagonistic, I am asking a general question as most meat eaters eat way above on protein?0 -

Fruits, veggies, and lean protein. Your diet sounds very healthy.0 -

Only if you eat so much that it causes you not to have a calories deficit. That is true of carbs from other sources as well. It's true of any food.0 -

Nope... Veggies are 'slow Carbs' Slow carbs have a low glycemic (sp?) index... they are the 'good carbs"0

I think you might have a skewed sense of how many carbs is "a lot." I used to eat about 400-700 grams per day. That's a LOT. Now I eat closer to 200 grams per day and stay in my calorie goal and I'm losing 2 pounds per week.
ETA: This was on TOP of my proteins and fats, so close to 4000 calories on average.0 -

They aren’t. If you are getting enough protein (from whatever source) don’t worry about it.0 -

Oatmeal - mostly carbs
Peanut Butter - mostly fat
Brown rice - mostly carb
broccoli - Mostly carb
Almond Milk - almost all carb (1 protein per serving?)
Unless you are trying to eat very little protein or a ton of calories in carbs these are poor choices0 -

They are not poor choices. There are foods higher in protein which would make them a better source of protein, if protein is all you are looking for. But the foods above contain protein along with many other healthy nutrients.0 -

My question must have got lost along the way, so I am repeating it?0 -

They have less protein per calorie than other more pur protein sources. If you have the calories available, it's fine to get protein from those sources -- any source really. If you're looking for a low calorie way to get protein, those aren't the best option.0 -

These aren't poor choices for protein, as a vegetarian I do protein combining all the time to ensure I get all the different types of protein for needed essential amino acids.0
