    I love this image (there was an even bigger version with people from all the different sports going around for awhile too). It's my go-to favorite whenever someone makes the "body size/shape = health/athleticism" argument. A great example that health and dedication come in all sizes :-)

    Thank you for sharing this. As shown by Svetlana Khorkina & Deena Drossin a person can have a low weight and be extremely healthy, athletic, muscular and athletically capable in their chosen sport or physical art. And none of these people chose to look this way it was a combination of their genetics and the particular needs of their sport (which brings them great joy). I hope that clears things up for people on here. I think they are all beautiful & different from one another. Personally, I do not choose how I look. That is a result of my genetics and training. And I don't look like any of them, I just look like me. So, I don't compare myself to others. I train to be the best that I know I can be for me.

    I would love to look like gymnastics chick. I'm built like basketball chick. But I probably look most like weightlifting chick.

    BTW... why does weightlifting chick have so much body fat??

    She's not skinny by any means of the word. Thick like a tree, but she's the world record holder for women's sprint and the current world champion in multiple disciplines. All in track cycling, of course.

    Oh, and she's over 30, and has kids (I believe).

    Oh, and she's over 30, and has kids (I believe).

    I heard about the scandal. The swimmer, specifically. It's ridiculous how society expects to see skinny people on TV, even amateurs who don't get paid to do what they do. They're at the top of their game. Who cares what they look like, as long as they perform their best!

    in heavyweight they have no weight restriction. so they don't ever have to cut body fat. Cutting body fat means eating at a caloric deficit. And eating at a caloric deficit means not able to build muscle and get stronger. Not to mention a level of bodyfat actually helps support really heavy weights. So there is zero advantage to losing bodyfat.

    Weightlifters in categories with bodyweight cuttoffs you'll find to be WAY leaner. Actually among the leanest of any athletes.
