How often are you supposed to weigh in? I haven't yet other than my intital profile set up. I don't even own my own scale. I just didn't/don't want to be obessed with numbers. I know what I am doing is working since I went down a pant size, and I can hook my bra on the tightest setting.

  • I don't weight in that often, i usually only do it once every one or two weeks. I feel like the longer span i put in between them, the better i feel when i noticed how much weight i lost. (:

    I don't own a scale either. I have 1 weigh-in a month.

Most people I know do once a week.... that gives you very stable and consistent results. I do about once a week or every 2 weeks.

You don't HAVE to use any of the features on MFP unless you want to. Some people weigh in once a week, others do it every day. It's all a matter of preference. If you aren't even going by your weight, maybe you could record inches instead so you have a better idea of your success.

I do weekly, but I am OCD and like to see the numbers... :)
  • I think you're right. I just bought some scales and started to weigh myself every day and it's just not worth it! I know I am losing weight by how I look and how my clothes feel - I'm going to start weighing myself one a week

Don't do it too often. I like the once a month rule of Mguilmot or less. Especially if you are lifting weights. I am weighing myself once a week now because I am in a group challenge and it is annoying the hell out of me. I know I am more toned because I am wearing clothes I haven't worn in months again, but the scale is NOT moving. My group members say lifting weights can bloat you and muscle weighs more than fat. So, don't frustate yourself. Keep the weigh ins at a minimum if you buy the scale. You don't want to discouraged by the numbers.

I weigh in once a week and I put the scale away after because if I see it then I will weigh myself everyday and that's not a good thing for me. Out of sight out of mind kinda thing lol.

There is no 'right' amount of times to weigh. I weigh daily, which is a disaster for some people. Others weigh weekly, or monthly. As long as you are keeping track of SOME metric (i.e. measurements, weight, BF%) it doesn't matter how often you do it.
