    Hi
I am 46, and I've lost approx 60lbs over the last year. I've always heard that you just, at a certain age cannot lose that hip/belly fat and I'm determined to prove this wrong. It's like the world would have me settle and well, I just wasn't made for settling.

So my goal is to chisel it away..exercise, nutrition, green tea, coconut oil, giving up alcohol(gulp) all the while dealing with perimenopause, kids, a house a husband and my writing work.

    Anyone have a similar goal?

Looking for friends to hang out with to stay motivated
DIDnt believe until it happened to me! I had no stomach gut of any kind until late 30's/ or 40! Infact, sorry but I remember being at work mentally thinking Thank God I dont have one as I saw someone around my age go by well shortly after.. I still use the same pant belt at one time, I was going to add holes to further fasten it now some days I cant stand to see it! God has humor!

I will be 43 in December and I agree that lifting heavy worked wonders for me. I"m addicted to it now. I was losing weight, albeit slowly, but once I started lifting the inches started coming off, including the belly area. My biggest trouble spot right now is a little extra in the thigh area that has been stubborn. You can do this, takes hard work and perseverance, but it is possible. :drinker:

What a GREAT response! Thank you to those who added me as a friend. Everybody please do! I was just about to grab a snack that was a bit sugary and swapped it for some cheese(protein) because it was the better choice. Decaf flavoured coffee will satisfy my hankering for something sweet.

Sugar is not belly friendly and neither are white/processed carbs. But I treated myself to white bread tonight..I baked it..was in my calorie range and moved on. I am under my calorie intake today but was over yesterday so I'm not sweating it.

And the thing is..it is trimming down..the fat is going..just slowly!

I can't wait to have a flat belly pic to show you..and if I can figure out how I will post some from the last 3 weeks...when I really started to go for it!

Attitude is everything...we've got everything we need..support, knowledge, desire..now we just have to do it!

Thank you for all the links..currently I am unable to lift...so I have been doing the Insanity workouts at home...along with following a deficit food intake and it's working..I do see changes...the muscles are there...as someone said..hidden under the flab. Once I have moved....in the next few months I will be able to start a serious weight routine again but I am finding all of the pushups and squats etc. are really building muscle.

My goal is to look like your pics. And I don't see any real reason why I can't especially with all of the new definition I'm seeing every week.

Yep..lose the fat and then make it pretty...sounds reasonable to me!

thanks so much for sharing. :)

Yup and I achieved my goal at age 50. I had to ignore everyone that said I could not do it because this is just what happens when you are older.

BTW the only way to get rid of the tummy fat is a calorie deficit.

Exercise to make your body pretty once the fat is gone, not for weight loss. But exercise is necessary.

And lifting weights is KEY. I recently had my DXA scan done and at 51.5 years of age I have the bone density of a super athletic 30 year old. That is a direct result of lifiting for over 30 years. Now if that is not scientific proof that lifting weights keeps you younger I don't know what is! Also the technician told me I had .06 lbs of visceral fat. That is pretty much ZERO tummy fat, and believe me I had quite a bit before I started this journey. IT CAN BE DONE.

    Hi Everyone,

Day one is done and went well. I made it through the day without any diet soda yay. I think to some degree that is harder for me than the food.

Tomorrow my goal is to get some exercise in. Today was a bust in that fighting a headache today and the wind didn't help.

Have a great night. I am turning in early ttyl

I stayed under my calories(though I forgot to enter them..duh) and I had a pretty good two days. My aunt passed away and I was in sort of a fog but kept the mindset that me being miserable wasn't going to fix anything there so I kept to my diet and yesterday I worked out.

Today the fog has lifted a little..and I'm going to track better...I have only 8 days of Insanity left! I am psyched to move on...or maybe I'll start it over...not sure but the results have been amazing!

Cheers and thanks everybody! My belly already looks smaller!!!

I guess it's not just belly fat...the love handles are an issue and I think they'll go away together!

Great day...worked out and ate well.

    Cheers
