I had a bet with 2 of my friends to lose 20 kgs (44lbs) by the end of this year. We started in April and I thought we had ample time but just realized today that we are running out of time. From next week if I want to win i have to lose minimum 1lb per week every week!!!!! I am leading but looks like all of us will lose as no one will be able to reach the target. That will be so bad. I need to lose 12 lbs to win and the way last 2 months have been my weight loss has been not very successful:(

I'd actually say that all of your are winning since you're all getting in better shape and healthier. Can't see the lose in that.

A minimum of 1 lbs per week is doable for some people. Just keep trying. Would you really feel sad if at the end of this year you've lost 19 kilo?

I agree - you are all winning even if you almost reach your goal. Just think about what this experience has meant to your health

You know the drill - log those calories, move that butt, keep your eye on the prize (which isn't necessarily the bet you've made but hey, we all need a motivator) and you CAN do it. Really good luck :)

I agree that MFP's idea is change in lifestyle. But it would have been great to have some competition going and winning it too:) I have seen here people losing 100 lbs both men and women in one year. But looks like I will not even lose 50 lbs:(

Honestly it is how hard you work and what you put into it! Good luck. I have to say positive minds take your farther!

Every person has a different body. If you have like 300 pounds to lose, then it's perfectly practical to aim for 100 pound loss in a year. But if you only had 50 pounds to lose, then losing those 50 in a year can be VERY challenging. For some people, dropping the last 10 pounds takes a whole year.

I was dropping fat like hot potato back when I was very obese... If I started losing fat at that rate now, I'd reach my goal in just THREE WEEKS!

I checked out a few days of your diary, do you work out a lot? because if you're not working out then 4 eggs, toast, spinnach, onion and tea with sugar seems like one hell of a breakfast!

that said, i'm biased because i'm on a far lower calorie goal than you.

anyway. 1lb a week is totally doable, you've just got to put your back into it! if you want it you'll make it happen, but you have to actually believe you can. we all do!

also, get off the sprite. that stuff rots your guts.

You consistently go pretty far over on sugar. That could slow things down for anyone.

    This!

And, you could easily eliminate the sugar in the Sprite and the Tea. I've found that replacing my several cups of tea a day with herbal tea helps my weight loss. Don't ask me why, cos the calories aren't that high (although several teaspoons of sugar a day does add up), but it works for me! Good luck!
