    Wow! You're planning early ;)

I'm hoping to try some thanksgiving recipes from ChocolateCoveredKatie.com. The pumpkin pie, at least!

Thanksgiving dinner is my cheat meal, however I will make sure to just have one serving and eat light throughout the day. About <500 calories for my other meals.

In Canada Thanksgiving is on Monday October 8.
I just voluneered so need to make a menu quick.... for lots of people, was trying to look for inspiration on the recipies here.

    So far thinking:
Turkey and Beef (picky family as well)
    Gravy
Roasties (Hubby and I won't eat but it would be bad if we didn't make them)
roast veggies (onion, parsnip and cararots)
Fruit plates and cheese (our eating plan of fruit/veg and meat with cheese)
this is were it get fuzzy...
just saw a recipie for asparagus and tomatos with balsamic vinegar
    green beans and pine nuts
    homemade buns

and dessert will be birthay cake and apple pie. (it is my 19yr old's birthday one thanksgiving)

    ANY GREAT SUGGESTIONS.

    turkey
    mashed potaotes
    sweet potaotes
    corn
    rolls
    pumpkin pie
    stuffing and gravy
    veggie tray
All the good stuff, that is sooo bad for you.
I am going to try to take smaller portions and no seconds.
I guess it all depends on how much wine I drink that day (and how much I can tolerate all the family! LOL)!
  • Turkey&gravy
    mashed potatos
    roasted potatos for the vegan
    brussel sprouts
    green salad
    roasted sweet potatos
    tofu for the vegan
mashed turnip for the Scottish guy
    buns
    pumpkin pie
    vegan chocolate cupcakes

And it's at my house, and we're doing it tomorrow. Should I be nervous?

It's only the four of us for Thanksgiving supper this year (which we're doing tomorrow, not Monday), so I'm roasting a chicken (couldn't get a turkey under 25 pounds this year!).

Roasted organic chicken with stuffing (a mix of homemade multigrain and white bread) and gravy
Roasted organic purple and golden beets, organic stubby carrots, and organic parsnips
Mashed potatoes (mix of organic yellow and red with roasted organic garlic)
    Homemade multigrain buns
Romaine salad with organic oranges & pecans
Pumpkin pie tarts (basically just pumpkin pie in *much* smaller, kid-friendly servings)

I'd like to do another vegetable, but will figure that one out tomorrow morning ... depends on what the munchkins would like (probably peas or corn). I'm working around an allergy to a common food preservative, hence all the organic ingredients.

Interesting question. Hubby and I have been talking about this. It's gonna be just me and him. I had gastric bypass August 16, 2012. I can't eat much. So definitely not cooking a big meal. Last year we went to Cracker Barrel. Waited 30 minutes for a table. We ate a dinner and took an extra dinner home so we had leftovers. This year a meal will last me 2 days. I think we are gonna do take out from Cracker Barrel this year. Then I can pick at meal all day long.

Well, when Thanksgiving arrives for us Americans at the end of November--I will get to eat a bite or two of everything--no more than a 3/4 cup of food, since I had weight loss surgery 9/27. My cheat days are long gone. :/

    Turkey
    Gravy
    Mashed potatoes
    Sweet potatoes
    Fresh green beans
    Canberry sauce

    My plate will have:
    8 ounces turkey
    1/2 cup mashed potatoes
1/2 cup sweet potatoes w/ 2t. sugar and cinnamon and 1T. light margarine
    1/4 cup gravy
2 cups plain steamed green beans

3 hours after dinner I will be picking at the turkey....will weigh it and track it.
    I plan to go over my calories, it's 1 day, I'll live.

I forgot, I will make individual pumpkin pies...right about 200 calories of super yumminess!
